I'm 17, straight and I like to read hentai once in a while, but there are some things I avoid, like the futanari thing. It's a little too much for me... I'm okay with tentacles and other stuff though . Oh, no... beast things/furries/etc. And I like it when the guy's handsome lol...
After reading though, I feel... really weird. Like I shouldn't be reading that and all... plus... hentai kinds of turns me on... and I feel bad about that (what am I even doing here haha OTL).

I have the same problem too, though not all hentai is like that. I have watched quite a few hentai anime I liked (I now prefer anime to manga since they don't have a lot of fluids everywhere).

I think the reason is that hentai is made for Japanese guys. Sadly, because of their culture, they prefer weak and pure women. Though not all women are like that and the Japanese guys don't even have to require women to be like that IRL, it's a fantasy that can turn them on instead of off. It a very sad truth.

That's absolutely right! It's why I read manga, too... I always find it difficult to point out exactly what that "particular atmosphere" is, but I think it's the joy of seeing life interpreted in new and interesting ways. Art makes us view life with renewed interest... Well, that's my opinion, anyway. Human faces, when drawn with an artist's hand, reveal fascinating secrets that real faces often manage to hide...


Yeah, I've wondered about that. It's obvious that social conditioning discourages women from being honest with themselves about their desires, but for some reason there are always a few stubborn women (like you and me, I guess!) who don't fall for the whole women-are-dainty-and-pure thing. We certainly aren't sex-obsessed demons, but we aren't pure, either... We're just ordinary people with ordinary desires! Why women have to be placed apart from sexual discourse is something I don't understand.

After all, if the world expects us to have sex, it should also be all right for us to talk about it and to enjoy doing it. These ideas about feminine purity and frigidity seem pointless. Elsewhere (somewhere above this comment) it was said that I shouldn't take such remarks seriously, but I'm afraid that these casual and/or joking remarks are just symptoms of a greater misunderstanding about women. That's why I spoke up; I wouldn't have bothered, otherwise.

It's really odd, how society has completely polar opposite ideas about women... On the one hand, they're treated as if they're pure, and on the other hand, they're treated as sexual objects. These extreme misinterpretations seem bizarre to me.

Men are also misinterpreted by society -- they, too, are forced to adopt gender roles that not all men are comfortable with. The ideal of the "working man" and the ideal of the "stoic father," as well as the concept of sexual prowess being a token of masculinity. It's weird that a guy who has sex with a lot of women is often considered more masculine than a guy who has sex with just a few women. Why? I don't think it's fair or rational. Similarly, a guy who can physically dominate over other people is often considered manlier. This is also weird, considering that many perfectly respectable men are gentle at heart. They shouldn't be forced to "act tough" just because they need to get a manly reputation. What the hell...

I think that one of the main challenges of life is trying to reconcile completely opposite ideas about gender. People actually try to live up to ideas that are contradictory; no wonder they're stressed out! A woman must be "pure" but must also be "attractive" -- a man must be "aggressive" but must also be a "protector".

Argh, gender roles in general make me want to pull my hair out.

The rift between reality and ideology is still a wide one. It would be pleasant if this rift were to narrow, and if people's ideas about themselves were to become more realistic. Maybe one day, we'll view ourselves as individuals, rather than as sets of labels. That's all I can hope for.

This is exactly what was meant by mellow on that earlier comment. He wasn't suggesting that there couldn't be a women that likes hentai and/or pr0n but he was more surprised that there was actually a girl on the internet. Which by definition has a higher than 75% chances to be just a guy pretending to be a girl.
Well, it was more of a joke you, know and a running gag on the internet. So you didn't really have to take it seriously.
On the matter of girls liking hentai or not... well I can't help I'm not a girl, but from what I know of them... They are even bigger pervs than us guys, they can just hide it better.
(And well guys do have a problem controlling themselves... I guess that when the blood goes down to do something, there isn't enough blood left in the head to think clearly)

I think part of the reason yaoi has become so popular is because it's like hentai for the female readership, particularly the straight female readership. Most hentai tends to eroticize women, while yaoi eroticizes men -- so naturally many women will be interested in yaoi. But hey, there are those of us that also like hentai. It's true that I'm a dyke, but a lot of female hentai fans are perfectly straight! Hot porn is hot porn, hentai or otherwise. A lot of people, regardless of gender, are bound to enjoy it.

It doesn't do much for me, and if I ever do read some I have to be really careful in my selections since there's a lot of stuff out there that I really don't want to see.

I've always wondered why they often show semen being squirted directly into the uterus; by my knowledge that is physically impossible, and not at all favourable if the goal is to reproduce; since semen would alter the level of acidity inside the uterus, which is not in favour of successfully reproducing as it is harmful to the zygote.
If I recall correctly, the cervix secretes some sort of mucous that forms a thick blob of slime that seals off the uterus from external threats. This blob of slime is impermeable and only forms tiny canals during the female's fertile period to allow the spermatozoa to enter. Even if intercourse happened to occur during the female's fertile period, it seems highly unlikely to me that there would be enough pressure to force the semen through the tiny canals at considerable speed.
