Figured I'd ask this on a different site than I normally post these types of questions on.

One of the things that I'm noticing, particularly about Western media and politics, is that there seems to be an increasing hostility towards allowing women to be uniquely feminine, to act like a woman. The female protagonists in recent films and games all seem to be copies of Jennifer from I Spit On Your Grave, well beyond the point of possibly being considered a parody of the "angry white boy" stereotype that was prevelant over a decade ago. In academia, women choosing to take an education in or favor so-called "female dominated fields" over "male dominated fields" is treated like a Greek tragedy of the worst kind. In business, women are forced to go into jobs that are not suited towards their skillsets, or leave them feeling pressure and anxiety due to appointments to positions that they're ill-prepared for and only happened to meet the required diversity quotas or for good PR for the company. In public appearances, women must look like mutated freaks from a nuclear apocalypse and any showing of even a hint of femininity (Or ANY amount of attractiveness, even androgynously) is a blow towards "womanhood" because it's "promoting" an always ambiguous "patriarchy". In body image, women must either stuff themselves until they're blue in the face or go through the painful process of breast binding literally decades AFTER people considered it to be a "women's liberation" that the practice of foot binding was entirely eradicated. Why are women isolated and exhiled from the communities that have always accepted women, and only then for those same segregators and ostracizers to claim that they represent women and screech that "Changes need to be made because there aren't enough women"?

Summing it all up, why is a woman having even a thought of any sort of femininity (Or independence, for that matter) an action that should result in a witch hunt, with the punishment of death, due the paradoxical crime of "internalized misogyny "?
Spoiler (mouse over to view)
And, this isn't a problem I'm noticing that's exclusive to women. "You're not black enough;" calls for another genocide of Meso-Americans; and demands for the immigrants to have their green card/visa/citizenship voided if minorities don't think or act a certain way. What's going on?

It's identity politics separate the people to make sure they can't stand up to the rich.
To prevent them eyeing the vast amount of money inherited tell them, it is obviously more important to that men do not make 3 % more money or hour.
The list goes on I can't comprehend how people are angry that white people own a little more money, when a small minority holds most.
It's working though and the longer it goes on the dumper it gets.

I've noticed this to and it's stupid. I don't know why people find it so wrong for people to feel like showing off their body, unless they are over weight then they can show it off all they want. It's stupid, it's their bodies and if they want to show it off its no ones place to tell them otherwise. And if were talking about games, anime, cartoons and so on, there's nothing wrong with making attractive women. Personally people should just ignore these morons and just do what they want because guess what, they have zero power it only seems like they do because idiots listen to them and that's all. Once people stop listening to them, nothing happens because they can't do shit.

I don't quite see it that way? Women are starting to have more options - that's a good thing. And while I agree, that f.e. a house woman nowadays isn't a thing that's respected, it's the classic dependency of her on the man that's critized and looked down on. (And for a good reason, too. One should never depend 100% on another person, especially not financially. Suicide rate was brutal back when you had to be one)

As for the other stuff you mentioned - there's always been extreme groups. Body positivity group f.e. came from a good place once, then got toxic. It's just currently a bigger thing. And it's actually not true that women aren't allowed to be classically feminine any more - just think about it: how many media do you know where the woman does not have long hair? How many where she's actually ugly? In real life, how many girls do you know with long hair vs. short hair?
Long hair is the thing connected to feminity in the western world - that and make-up.

As for the other stuff... Sounds like you had some encounter with the toxic sort of feminist.
Being feminine is not something hunted or critized. But feminity is more. It's not the standard maiden that needs to be protected by the strong man. It's a set of values connected to it, like communication. It's empathy. It's caring and taking care of the group.
There's literally a set of values commonly attributed to both feminity and masculinity - quite interesting actually. Keep in mind that feminity or masculinity are both concepts made by man, they are not automatically connected to gender.

Honestly, I like that we get more kinds of women images in media. It's not just the girl in need of saving anymore. Or the over-sexualised bimbo. There's more.
Although I agree that for every well handled woman representation we've got that one idiot who thinks that "strong woman = woman hating men" or, to put it better: for every wonderwoman there's a batwoman.

Women are actively pressured into femininity throughout our whole lives and punished socioeconomically for deviating from it to the point that even existing without performing femininity is considered masculine. A woman can literally lose her job for not performing femininity enough. Misogynistic men literally abuse or even kill women who they think are existing in a "wrong" way as women (ex.: killing butch lesbians). It's completely disconnected from reality to think that society's new gender role for women is rejecting femininity. For fuck's sake, 12-year old girls already receive social pressure to shave their legs.

And women who don't perform femininity "look like mutated freaks from a nuclear apocalypse"? The aggressive misogyny jumped out.

"Let women be women!"
You mean FEMININE! Femininity =/= womanhood. And nothing/no one is stopping women from performing femininity. Literally everyone wants us to, to the point of people like you thinking we are deviating from womanhood itself if we don't.

act like a woman

Anyone else's head spinning from a (presumably) trans man complaining that women aren't "acting like women"? 🤣

Hey, smart ass, it's a name, that's it.

Have you LOOKED at what they're doing with series like Winx Club and The Powerpuff Girls? Where the latter case is the result of someone sarcastic suggesting to a room of straight-faced business executives that what people wanted to see from a live-action adaption of a cartoon, about three underage supergirls fighting crime before bedtime (That even had it's own film, games, anime, toys, and so on because the show was THAT popular to just about EVERYONE), is a serious and dark reboot about how the girls hate their life, become dykes to recover, and are trying to find the littlest bit of happiness they can at the bottom of a bottle. Meanwhile, you have the former case where, the second best magical girl cartoon to come out of Italy (Was always more of a W.I.T.C.H. fan) that boils down to female Harry Potter (Without all the angst overruns everything after the third book) with inter-dimensional fairies, is turned into "I can't believe it's not [Insert popular soap opera that only desperate housewives read/watch]."

Where the Hell do you live where that occurs? I've never seen or heard that (Outside of third-world and Muslim-majority countries). The closest I've seen is women losing their job BECAUSE of their femininity, much to people's celebration.

Oh, for fuck's sake, are you literally taking that "femicide" bullshit seriously? That omits how 80% of the people killed every year in a homicide are men, and that the countries with the highest murder rates against women fall into at least one of these categories: (1) third-world, (2) Socialist government, (3) Muslim majority country.

"In our culture, not one part of a woman’s body is left untouched, unaltered. No feature or extremity is spared the art, or pain, of improvement. Hair is dyed, lacquered, straightened, permanented; eyebrows are plucked, penciled, dyed; eyes are lined, mascaraed, shadowed; lashes are curled, or false —from head to toe, every feature of a woman’s face, every section of her body, is subject to modification, alteration. This alteration is an ongoing, repetitive process. It is vital to the economy, the major substance of male-female role differentiation, the most immediate physical and psychological reality of being a woman. From the age of 11 or 12 until she dies, a woman will spend a large part of her time, money, and energy on binding, plucking, painting, and deodorizing herself."

Andrea Dworkin, "Woman Hating" (1974)

Imagine denying the existence of femicide. Male moment.

"B-but men killing each other!" That doesn't erase the reality that men have always been raping, killing, abusing, torturing, etc women because we are women. It doesn't erase a history of male dominance and female subjulgation. You realize that when you talk about all those violent men killing each other, you're actually helping my argument, right?

Back to your actual issue: Your issue is that you have a problem with women existing in our natural form (not performing femininity, including things like not shaving, not wearing makeup, not having long hair, not wearing dresses or skirts, etc). Your issue is that you are not attracted to women, you are attracted to idealized femininity. You think women are only attractive when performing femininity, when repressing ourselves, when punishing ourselves for deviating from femininity, when controlling ourselves, when HATING ourselves. You think women are only attractive when our faces and our bodies are commodities, when they are products presented for your amusement. And that is misogynistic. Your problem is that when a woman doesnt fit those ideas, you will hate her so much that you will feel the need to insult her repeatedly (like that gross apocalypse comment). Your problem is that you think a world in which a few women just exist without decorating ourselves from head to toe is a dystopian world. You think we are “not being women anymore”.

Women not performing femininity is not a problem. Youre the problem for thinking we have to be decorations throughout our entire lives.

Case closed. 😐

Just because you're not feminine, doesn't mean other women are "punishing" themselves by being feminine. Most women are instinctively feminine because it comes naturally to them. It's who we are.

Of course, some women aren't particularly feminine. That's fine. But for some reason a tiny number of loons on the internet attack normal women for being feminine.

Feminism is supposed to be about empowering women. Not attacking women for being themselves. That's not empowerment.

Seriously, I know I'm getting off the original topic, but why are there so many women on the internet who want to tear down other women?

uselessgodess, why can't you voice your opinion without degrading other women for being interested in makeup or fashion? Why is it bad for a woman to be feminine? People need to be allowed to be who they are. When I see posts like this, that just hate on people for liking things, it makes me sad.
