I don't mind if it's used for dudes crossdressing but, like you, I don't like it when it's used to refer to dudes who only look feminine (not actively trying to dress as a female) or transgender women

Trap refers to a male character who genuinely looks like a girl up to the grand reveal that they have a dick. If they don't look like a girl, it's just regular crossdressing and the character is a transvestite. If they act girly, but don't look or dress feminine, the closest term association would be a "tomgirl". If they have breasts, it's a shemale. If they have a vagina (A real one) instead of a dick, it's a cuntboy. If they have an axe wound in the groin, THAT's a tranny.

That's the way it's always been.

You were the one asking for the definition of those terms.

and being transphobic in 2021

Oh, yes, wouldn't want to offend the mentally ill who believe that mutilating their body will result in them finally being accepted in the public's eye. Also, by your standards, aren't you being "heterophobic" (Since, apparently, people are trying to push "super-straight" and "super-gay" ).

Spoiler (mouse over to view)
I personally don't care all that much because I don't waste my life on social media. And, whenever I see "SS", I think of something completely different.

1. I literally only asked about the term trap, and you said way more. transvestite is an outdated word btw.

2. I hope you know that being transgender isn't a weird thing nowadays. Even though and prejudice against trans people still exists in some people, people are becoming more accepting. Like dude were not in the 1950s anymore lmao

3. And how is: wanting to change your gender=mentally ill?
Being Transgender doesnt mean you are mentally ill. bro...even WHO even said it.

4. Also could you explain why you think im "heterophobic" based on literally one sentence?

You were talking about how people were appropriating the term "trap" to characters that are not traps, and I just laid out what the proper terminology was.

Quote from sloez
transvestite is an outdated word btw.

A term, used to for centuries, to describe men who wear women's clothing for fetish reasons, is now considered outdated? Since when? And, what should I start referring to them as? "Sardines" in honor of Sardanapalus?

2. I hope you know that being transgender isn't a weird thing nowadays. Even though and prejudice against trans people still exists in some people, people are becoming more accepting.

And, smoking wasn't considered a weird thing a century ago (Except in Germany), with every medical expert advocating for it.

Quote from sloez

You DO realize that the 50's was a lot more sexually promiscuous than today's revisionists insist it was, right?

Quote from sloez
3. And how is: wanting to change your gender=mentally ill?

Well, for one, gender does not apply to human sexual characteristics. The term "gender" is in reference to the sexuality present within languages. This is not so much present in English, however other European languages like Spanish, French, and German all apply different "sexes" to objects. From what I remembered in my French class, this is why properly referring to an object in French depends upon using either "La" (Feminine) or "Le" (Masucline), and "Les" when plural. When referring to sexuality, that is what gender refers to, the sexuality of words. Why do you think the Mexicans lost their collective minds last year when Steam used the "gender neutral term" (That didn't exist until the past decade) of "Latinx"?

To then make the leap that gender can "also" apply to human sexual characteristics, and can also be separate from human sexual features, is completely mental. First of all, it's insisting that someone born with a male (Or female) body; with a brain designed to operate, regulate, and protect that male (or female) body that it was developed with; can somehow be born as the "wrong sex"; that this can easily be "fixed" by pumping the individual full of drugs, and give them life-changing sterilizing medical surgeries; and that all of this should be done before the person has reached their two stages of sexual development (First in their their teens, second time in their 20's). JUST ON THAT ALONE should give one reasons to pause because it goes against EVERYTHING society has been teaching over the past century, first of which is "body acceptance" (As in "This is the body I was born with. There's much that I like about this body, there's more that I can naturally improve about this body, but there are some things that I hate about this body. And, at the end of the day, there's nothing I can ultimately do to change this body. Many people have tried (Look no further than Hollywood's obsession with botox), and the results have been nothing but failure. That leaves us with two possible answers. The first is to train your body to the point that your strengths greatly eclipse your weaknesses. The second is to train your body to the point that your weaknesses become some of your biggest strengths/assets. And, if anyone every tells you that you need to change your body, they don't have your best interests in mind." ).

But that's just the start. You could go onto how the creator of the "gender theory" was a mad scientists who performed human experimentation, falsified his scientific results, and drove both of the test subjects to suicide. But, if that's STILL not enough, there's also the fact that the surgeries and drugs are pointless in the results, the overwhelming majority ultimately "identify" as their biological sex in the end, and it's nothing more than a status symbol.

However, despite all of the being said, that doesn't exactly answer how it is that transgenderism is a mental illness, now does it? Although, the answer to that specific question is much more simple. If someone was running around, declaring to the world that they were Napoleon Bonaparte, emperor of France, and swearing to death that they are Napoleon Bonaparte, would that person be considered as suffering from a mental illness? Moving onto something more relevant, the otherkin movement. Wouldn't it be logical to conclude that those people are suffering a mental illness as well? Moving away from talking about reincarnation and raving lunacy to one's sex, wouldn't the answer remain the same as the previous two instances?

Quote from sloez
Being Transgender doesnt mean you are mentally ill. bro...even WHO even said it.

You're trusting the WHO, the same group who is repeating Chinese propaganda in order to continue receiving support from China?

Quote from sloez
4. Also could you explain why you think im "heterophobic" based on literally one sentence?

For the same reason I'm apparently "transphobic" for providing a term definition. Because these "phobes" and "isms" mean JACK SHIT.

i bet you think you "won" because you put in formatting and made a long ass post. let me explain why you're wrong

Quote
You

Who is you? this is a subjective term created by society, it doesn't even exist in languages in Africa. The self is undefined in philosophy that has existed for billions of years.
Quote
were

Speaking of were, did you know the 1800s were in the past? History is wrong because of slavery but history is also my grandpappy and his faithful wife taking a bus by themselves to get to their own cabin to have hot straight sex in.
Quote
talking

I was writing, clearly your lack of mental facilities explains why you are unable to understand basic logic.
Quote
the rest

I said that because you said that I said that you were saying it.

Anyways, try reading anything about trans experiences. I kinda used to agree with you on some of these points, but just consider it self expression. You know you're not an introverted person, but everyone sees you that way because your parents buy you gray baggy clothes, so you decide to wear more flashy clothes when you get to college. Your friends would be a little weirded out if you suddenly started cracking loud obnoxious jokes out of nowhere since you've just gone along with everyone's idea for so many years. Your parents always praised you for being so sweet and quiet, so that's even harder. It's not like introverts suck, and it's not like introverts aren't allowed to act extroverted ever, but sometimes it just feels yucky to hold back when you want to call out to a friend, it feels like you're trapping yourself, and faking something that you never even wanted to fake. If you could just help everybody see you in a different light, and see yourself in the mirror the way you see yourself inside, it would be easier to act true to yourself. If you permanently change your appearance, maybe it won't happen like this in the future, and you can shake off the habit/baggage from being a certain way all your life.
It's mutilating your body as much as getting braces is. "Axe wound to the groin" is a disgusting authoritarian way to talk about anybody's body. It's less visible and less useful than your teeth frankly. What about dick enhancement pills or breast surgery? Things like haircuts and clothes come before the more drastic bits, so younger people don't make big decisions and everybody gets to be sure of what they want. I don't think I've ever heard of anyone regretting it later in life, and I feel if there was someone like that they would be a highly publicized story for the people like you to rally behind.
Also, I'm not trans so read some real stories. From real trans people, not tropey ecchi manga.

I don't like the word trap, simply because it implies that the person is trying to trap you, in other words, they have malicious intent. It's like saying it's a girl's fault for dressing up when she's raped. How dare the guy who was born looking this way seduce all us horny males? I think they're cute and nice and perfect and they like me, but I'd rather die than exist in the same room as a dick. It's a sexist and homophobic term. Of course, you'll call this libtard bullshit, but I stand by it.

I agree that yes it does only mean a guy who happens to unintentionally look, dress(gender neutral clothes), and act like a girl. Guy dressing as a girl(dress, skirt) or girl dressing as a guy(suit, loose tshirt) is trans or a crossdresser. Guy that acts girlish is a guy. Girl that acts boyish is a girl.

If reading is that difficult for you, I can make my point in under 15 sentences, or would several 280 character posts to be more sufficient?

Quote from psirit
Anyways, try reading anything about trans experiences.

The "trans experience" that the original two test subjects from the experiment to prove the "gender theory" committed suicide? The "trans experience" that half of those that go through with it commit suicide? The "trans experience" that the other half that don't are telling people to knock it off and leave while they can?

Quote from psirit
but just consider it self expression.

So, it's a form of directionless rebellion. Where you're too much of a bitch to develop your own personality and start thinking for yourself, so you start embracing the "counter-culture" and "rebelling" in the exact same way everyone else is doing in the most extreme way possible, which all past instances in this activity have proven it to be nothing more than a temporary phase in life, and those participating in it regret about how they followed that train of stupidity, especially if they made life-altering decisions that they cannot take back.

Sounds like a personal problem and you need to learn to express yourself better, have you ever read Dale Carnegie?

Quote from psirit
What about dick enhancement pills or breast surgery?

That is the ONLY thing you listed that is at all similar or close to a sex change, which I still maintain my stance in both being pointless because the results of are never anywhere close to what was desired and are ultimately failures or abominations in the end, and they can never compare to those that natural train their body to the physique they desire; however, I have NEVER seen ED pills and breast surgery ever advertised towards people underage, just insecure adults.

Quote from psirit
it implies that the person is trying to trap you

That's the point and that's the joke.

Quote from psirit
It's like saying it's a girl's fault for dressing up when she's raped.

If she dresses like a whore, yes she is; if she isn't, that's what GUNS are for, to protect yourself.

Quote from psirit
It's a sexist and homophobic term.

AND YOU CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF! Reverse traps and tomboys are a dying bread and some of the hottest women around.

Quote from psirit
Guy that acts girlish is a guy. Girl that acts boyish is a girl.

Wow, that's transphobic of you after talking so smugly about how you're "pro-transgender". ARE YOU STILL FAILING TO COMPREHEND HOW STUPID ALL OF THIS SHIT IS?!?

I'd wonder if the context for the label being slapped on a transgender character had any correlation to them being passable as their corrected gender

if they're not passable, it's just a cheap lolyouvegotadick pejorative
im not going to say I have an exhaustive list of transpeople that I've met and worked with; but most of them you would not know unless they were giving a lecture and told you they were.

but I guess that's a sample of people who've had successful transitions and may not reflect the majority of experiences

is the label a spoiler?? for a series
did some author retcon a 'Dumbledore has always been gay' for a popular series with a trans?

'traps' conjure a lot of imagery; most of it I have to look at out of the corner of my eye, because that much beauty is blinding and you don't want to get yanked in to the gravitational pull, that stuff's inescapable

Oh, yes, how dare it be suggested that women take the initiative to buy a gun and learn how to use in order to protect themselves from some of the psychos that exist out there.

Quote from Sugarshark

Scooby Wu tried to do that with Samus from Metroid, but no one was having any of it, and the guy didn't have any power at Nintendo in the first place, so practically everyone told Flynt to fuck off. Outside of that, AFAIK, you had Poison and Roxy from Final Fight, but they were confirmed shemales from the beginning; and I heard that the recent Saint Seiya anime gender-swapped the gay character.

Also, the case of Dumbledore being gay is actually an extremely petty circumstance. The short version is that Rowling wanted Ian McKellen to play Dumbledore in the films, but the guy turned down the role, so her response was to declare to the world that Dumbledore was gay as a way to stick it to Ian because of.........some pumpkin-headed logic that it would be a hit to his ego that he couldn't play a gay character in a film he had no interest in. Yes, I fail to understand the logic behind that as well.
