Honestly, I have no idea. I want to say red, but I go to work everyday (ie a beautiful prison) for a somewhat certain future already. Like if I am thinking about it, I am already willfully taking the blue pill.

Worst part about it, blue pill don't give you a better future, just a more steady present.

I don't think I would be able to comfortably live my previous life if I knew that it was fake. It would make me paranoid. So, I think I have no choice but to take the red pill. That said, I'm not much of a fighter... so I don't think I would be that helpful to the resistance.

I auto went to red pill cuz i mean, who doesn't want to be like neo? But then I thought about it, and blue pill seems more sensible.... but I know my curiosity would get the best of me, so red pill. You know what they say about cats...

Between curiosity and not all that happy with my present I would choose red.

This question is philosophically equivalent to the may 22nd poll, "In reality, you're lying in a coma. Everything you've experienced in your life was a dream in your brain. Do you choose to wake up?", yet the percent is... very different.

The winner is still the same side, but it was 74.7 vs 25.3 before and this one is 58.9 vs 41.1

With that said, I wonder if the more recent incel connotations of the red pill has caused people to dislike that selection intrinsically?

Honestly, I voted for waking up from the coma. However, if I were aware that real life was like Matrix... I'd be nope, taking the blue pill.
And then I'd probably spend a couple months talking myself into thinking it was all a joke anyway and not real. And with my luck, that will go so far that some time later I'll still get dragged into it until I just have to take the blue pill.
Also, I once heard a theory that in the end, the resistance never won against the matrix, they just made up everything in their head and never even left the matrix. So I'd still be questioning whether anything is real at all.

I think the point is, if you wake up from a coma, there are people there for you, most likely. Something to return to. At least proper living situations, they kept you in a coma after all. If you wake up from the matrix? Hello really shitty reality where there's nothing good.
And that to me makes the difference from one poll to the other. One the reality is uncertain but most likely good/normal - the other you just know you won't like.

To be quite honest, The Matrix series is the worst example to use for people "walking up to reality". As the second filmed showed, and why I turned it off after the first 30 minutes, all humanity wanted to do with their newfound freedom was either have sex or jack back into the Matrix to annoy Agent Smith. No one had any drive to aspire or do anything else with their lives.

Better examples would be films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers, They Live, and Conspiracy Theory.

I agree but for a different reason. If I were to assume that waking up from this reality meant I was still the same person, then I'd much rather be blue pilled. Taking the red pill just to wake up without being exceptional like Neo sounds like a quick way to become a martyr that makes no significant impact.

As for me, if the pill were a physical manifestation and not a metaphor, I'd go with a random one and see where that takes me. Spend the rest of my days wondering whether I am in a beautiful prison or the uncertain future just happened to work out well for me

... why? This poll didn't say "you figure out that you are in the exact universe of The Matrix", it said "Similar to The Matrix, [...]".

You're making some big, bizarre assumptions about a meta-world of The Matrix. The only question here is whether you choose to leave the virtual reality.

There are an infinite number of possible universes where you have been born into a virtual reality, and from my perspective, overwhelmingly many of them are utopic rather than... machines trying to harvest your conscious energy. People wouldn't write media about those scenarios because they don't make interesting stories. But it seems like a far better reason for a virtual reality this vast to exist in the first place.

I missed the last poll but I would think the female % has gone down since there’s less shoujo manga being scanlated. Then there are apps like Webtoon pumping out a ton of comics that fill that void eliminating the need to check this site….?
