I was looking for a good romance manga to read, and my friend told me about Skip Beat!

+ But I looked at it and it was really, really long ( I usually read manga that are about 12 - 14 volumes ).

+ The artwork is... kind of okay.

But many people told me it was one of the best manga they ever read. I looked at the reviews but it didn't really give me the information that I wanted.
The reviews were really bias and they mention over and over again that it was funny, but I wanted more info then that.

Is it worth it? What are the positives and negatives of this manga?

Positives of the series:
--Kyouko is a kickass female heroine. If you dislike female heriones who can't fend for themselves or fall in love too quickly with the main guy then you won't disappointed with Kyouko. She has spunk and funny though she's not entirely sure of her true goals.
--The men are hot.
--Revenge never got so humerous with Kyouko joining the show biz and learning there's more to acting than she thinks.
--It's funny.
--It's dragging at the moment.
--You hope Kyouko doesn't go back to Shotaro.
My opinion is read the first volume and if you don't like it then that's up to you but don't judge a manga based on other people's opinions, including mine. It defers from reader to reader. But Skip Beat is worth a read.

I enjoy Skip Beat! tremendously; people keep saying "it drags" but I'm enjoying the pace & reading for Kyouko's adventures & development as an actress & a person, not expecting much for romance due to the circumstances.

IMO if you enjoy the story, the art will grow on you.

Read a volume or two and see what you think - it may or may not be your thing but I love it. eyes

Before I start my actual reply, I honestly think you should go read the manga first and just find out if you like it yourself, rather than asking the negatives and positives from other people.
From my point of view, it doesn't really just focus on romance, but also on her career in showbiz. So that's probably why some people might think that it's dragging on the romance part.
As of negative side, I haven't come across on any.
Also, you can't ignore the fact that it is funny, but not to a point where snot might come out of your nose because you're laughing too much.(Kind of exaggerating..)
Overall, it's a nice read,really.

I still don't have one, shoot.
