Here are a couple more I've found:
There are two other anime adaptations of The Wizard of Oz, not counting the one done for Quantcast Manga Sekai Mukashi Banashi (which actually has two stories per episode, making each about 12 minutes long).
There's a hentai version of Alice in Wonderland floating around the interwebs that has the same title as the one up there, so watch out if you try to look for it (unless you're into that kind of thing, of course).
Anime Oyako Gekijo and Pasocon Travel Tanteidan: A Bible story per episode. This one was produced by an American evangelist in an attempt to convert Japanese children. It was shown on American religious stations under the title Superbook.
Nagagutsu wo Haita Neko and Nagagutsu wo Haita Neko no Boken: Both based on the tale of Puss in Boots, the former more loosely.
Nagagutsu wo Haita Neko: 80 Nichikan Sekai Isshuu: A really weird cross between Puss in Boots and Around the World in 80 Days. This one is a three-quel to the loose adaptation of Puss in Boots. The sequel is a nonsensical western.
Uchuu no Senshi: Based on the Robert Heinlein novel Starship Troopers.
Lensman and Galactic Patrol Lensman: Based on the 1930s pulp science fiction series by Edward Elmer Smith, sometimes known as the "Father of Space Opera".
Captain Future and Captain Future: Kareinaru Taiyokei Race: Based on the 1940s pulp science fiction series by Edmond Hamilton.
Arano no Sakebi Koe: Howl, Buck: Adaptation of Call of the Wild.
Sekai Meisaku Douwa: Mori wa Ikiteiru: Adaptation of the Russian fairy tale Twelve Months.
Arabian Nights: Sindbad no Bouken and Sindbad no Bouken: Adaptations of the story of Sinbad. The former was directed by Osamu Tezuka.
Tezuka also directed Senya Ichiya Monogatari, a bizarrely erotic and dizzyingly surreal movie loosely based on other stories in 1001 Nights, as part of the Animerama trilogy (which also includes the awesome Kanashimi no Belladonna previously mentioned).

The Art of War - Sun Tzu is a manga... O_O;;

...that really, really doesn't make any sense. There's no story there. It's not an adaptation, just a weird thematic choice.

Oh >.<;; I thought since the summary says that it portrays the life of Sun Zi and what he developed, it'll be a retelling of the strategies in the Art of War... Therefore it seemed more likely to be more of an adaption than a theme

Za Saiyuuki - Belne did a shounen-ai adapation of The Journey to the West, too. I haven't read The Journey to the West nor its manga adaptations, but if it really lends itself to gay so well, I'll have to at some point!

You know about the adaptation of Anne of Green Gables and two of the sequel books by the author of Georgie, and it turns out another well-known 70s author did the seventh book in the series: Niji no Tani no An.

I pefer you to also read Dear My Girls! It is based on Louisa May Alcott's "Little Women" but with a huge twist so far I think.

Poirot: The anime series was mentioned but not the manga.

The titles of the 3 manga adaptations are:

Ei Bi Shi Satsujin Jiken (The ABC Murders)
Padeinton Hatsu 4ji 50pun (4.50 from Paddington) and
Kumo no Naka no Shi (Death in the Clouds)

They do not appear to be in the MU database.

Okay, I've got nothing to add but this thread seems nothing short of amazing. That's because I'm tired of reading comments about how "anyone who thinks that stereotypical mainstream manga is boring" is an air-headed, prententious idiot, so... any titles that are thought-provoking and interesting will be fun to read, to sooth those annoying comments.

And here, I thought that there was nothing good to read anymore.
