I found this method on how to convert a .mkv file to DVD in a forum but I'm not sure if chapters are compatible with this. I would also appreciate help if someone would be able to tell me the number of frames per second I should use? I'm trying to convert a h.264 .mkv file so when I use mkvmerge it says that the application itself is unable to determine the FPS and that I must specify it myself.

Also, is it possible to have two audio/subtitle files for the DVD?

And if anyone knows an easier way to go about this I'd be very thankful if you could explain it to me :3
I apologise in advance if this question is not allowed, I saw a previous topic on something similar to this and checked it out but it was of not much use to answering my question dead

The method:
Install MKVExtract and put MKVToolNix in the same folder.
Demux all the content of the mkv file to a new folder.
Use mkvmerge to create a new mkv file with just the video and audio tracks.
Convert the subs to srt if they aren't already.
Use FAVC to convert the mkv file to DVD, selecting the srt file for your subs

-To eliminate your problem for fps, use only mkvmerge for removing the subtitles from your parent file (ex: add input file (mkv), uncheck subtitle (ass, ssa, srt etc), mux). Another method would be installing something like MediaInfo to determine the fps of the video.

-Yes, it is possible to have multiple audio/subtitle files for the DVD.

-I wouldn't recommend converting those stylized subs (.ass etc.) into .srt since sometimes two simultaneously appearing lines of subs get messy when put into DVD (although not always). Additionally, the styling is removed which probably not what is intended. Try to learn how to hardcode .ass files to video. There are several methods with accompanying guides but I'd recommend XviD4PSP.

My current method:
-Demux .ass and font files w/ MKVExtract, install fonts to PC
-Use mkvmerge to create an mkv containing only video and audio
-hardcode the stylized sub
-burn to DVD

Also, I'd recommend ConvertXtoDVD for DVD burning since it is almost completely compatible with .mkv containers except for utilizing stylized subs (although ConvertXtoDVD has limited menu design options).

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much biggrin
I tried that and it worked perfectly, I came across a .sub and.idx file though and I'm not sure how to get it to work. I tried the method you said using Xvid4PSP and only the .idx file as the .sub file doesn't work but the subtitles don't show. confused

May I also ask as to how you make several audio and subtitles available on the video? Like how with DVDs you can select from several audios and subtitle options.

I have looked it up for you

multiple subtitles isn't possible hardcoded
or you've got to have multiple videos of the same episode bigrazz

for multiple subtitles you've got to use srt
here is a guide to convert
(scroll down to see sub to srt)
http://www.videohelp.com/oldguides/srtsubsvirtual#subtool

try a dvdauthoring program
(see dvdauthorgui)

EDIT: your video has to be encoded to mpeg2
your audio to ac3 of mp2

you have to seperate the audio and video
(demultiplexing)
convert the other audio stream you want to add to mp2 or ac3
(whichever you want to be using)
convert your sub to srt if necessary
use dvdauthorgui to add it all together
burn your dvd

i'll making a follow-up soon
