500+(Or how ever many there are) volumes is ALOT. She has to be a robot.
I wonder if she ever gets any sleep?

Like I said before, she's got a lot of work with her hands; with over 80 manhwas (and over 900 volumes) she's done. Either that or she's brainwashed... -___-;;

I have no idea how she does it, but I have great respect for her dedication (you have to be super dedicated to have over 900 volumes...). I love her art and stories too so I guess I'm glad that she has so many series.

I also added them up and got 925 volumes.

That is insane. I was just about to type up a long reply as to why I think someone was making a mistake when they put up her series, but I am starting to think that she really did write all those volumes. That's pretty nuts.

It's not impossible when you take into consideration that a good amount of her works don't have dates, and if they do, it's publication date (or even a republication date), not the date she drew it. We also don't know her AGE. Taking this into account, we don't know how long she's could have been in the industry.

She must be immortal.

Funny, but she tends to be very repetitive with her series sometimes.

Yeah seriously. I don't know why the HMR fangirls are taking offense to this thread. They don't find it strange at all how she pumps out manhwa like nothing?

Most mangaka (Like Kubo, Oda, Kishi) only release like 20 pages a week and even they have assistants. Granted, their art is much better and they don't rehash the same plot 50 times like HMR, but still it takes them a week to get those 20 pages. Even assuming she has copy and pasted art/plot, and maybe twice the number of assistants, I estimate that she can get 40-60 pages a week.

But NO, she releases like a whole volume every week (180-200 pages)! That is not humanly possible. I think that Hwang Mi Ri isn't actually a person (Has anyone even seen her before?) and is actually some manhwa publishing giant that pumps out manhwa under this "alias" every week.

Hey, it's possible. I'm sure she has lots of assistants. So many that it's more of a company than a person. It's not like she's the only one.
Just look at Tezuka Osamu. He drew so much, no one's sure how exactly how much it is. They only know that it's over 700 series.

Quote from Odette
I don't know how popular Hwang Miri is in Korea, but it boggles my mind that scanlators devote so much of their time to translating so many of her clone-like storylines when there are many other much more creative, beautiful, interesting manhwas out there, languishing for lack of translators.

I remember facepalming so hard reading a thread here asking why all Korean shoujos are about high school delinquents. Although there might be a cultural reason, my easier answer is that seemingly 75% or more of scanlated shoujo manhwa come from one woman: Hwang Miri. Imagine a world where Adachi Mitsuru were the author of practically every sports manga -- wait for it -- and this category made up 75% of all shounen mangas. Please, scanlators, have mercy on us.

I totally agree with this. Her storylines are all so similar and there is so many mangas and manwhas out there which are different and perhaps much better. I would hope that scanlators devote more of their time to those kinds of work rather than Hwang Mi Ri's who I have to admit i am not a fan of. Her artwork is just ugly especially the girls.

Hwang-Mi Ri is probably a brand name that the company uses to crank out those series, just like publishing companies like Harlequin use a single name to crank out pulp romance novels that are actually written by several different people.

I agree that it's frightening how she can produce so many volumes but i've never really finished anything by her. That's because her characterization and research are all very very poorly done... and I recall reading some series of hers about war. Man, it was like reading some "children's play" which had been produced by some Cultural Research Bureau(in-charge of propaganda and "cultural influences").

And to be frank, I used to watch so many Chinese dramas and movies as a kid, that I'm not very interested in loud-mouthed heroines unless there's something really worthy to the plot.

She's probably really well-known in South Korea, hence, she can do so many. But I think her stories are superficial at best.

Her stories are forget in a week type manga. They are like a cheap bag of chips or a frozen food dinner. Ok for the moment. A bit. Cheap. Quick. Easy. But overall you can ALWAYS do much better.

God I hate her work, I noticed the HUUUUUGE list of manwha and wondered whether she had the most list out of everyone on manga updates, but seriously I think it's one woman as all the stories are about the same thing.

strong female girl - randomly bumps into delinquent boy - random blackmail by boy - falls in love - new boy enters scene - blackmails her too - falls in love - soap opera type drama - confused - live happily ever after - THE END.
I've yet to find ONE work of her's that made me like it right through.

I guess she's a hardworker and doesn't really need to put a lot of effort into her plots and character developments(see above), perhaps she has a huge team?

Seriously though, has anyone ever seen her? I demand a picture bigrazz
