Don't get me wrong, I still love me some action manga, but its starting to get kinda old...
like Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece are praised as the friggin holy trinity of manga, now I do like Bleach and One Piece... but I feel that there are so many better manga out there.
I read Death Note and just got captivated with the plot, it was one of the few manga I've actually gotten so obsessed that I bought every single volume as soon as money was ready (before I knew of onemanga.com).
after that, the action manga are getting kinda boring
Villain: your to weak
Hero: fuck you I got this hidden potential
Villain = PWNED
again don't misunderstand, I do like action manga, just with plots (like Fullmetal Alchemist or InuYasha)
anyone else feelin this?

Action in manga is just one of the many parts that encopass its greatness. Action alone will never work unless the characters and setting are of interest. Action is more accesible then long dialogue realting to a deep story since you receive instant "joy" from just watching the scenes.
Most great mangas have both good action scenes and a deep story.
Also action is a way to do some major character upheaval. And usually action tends to be harder to fuck up, but a good deep story is very dependent on individual preference.
Im not really trying to make a point here, im just speaking what comes to mind. I love good action and story in manga. To be interested I need some of both, but the ratio action/story varies from manga to manga. I tend to stay more hyped when its Action50-80%/Story20-50%.

Um I get what you're saying but didn't feel that way. Maybe it's because you were a little too concentrated in one genre to begin with. By the way I wouldn't call it "Action" just "Shounen".
Death Note was great but it didn't change my life or anything. There were already a good amount of mind blowing twisted thrillers. Maybe you're just underexposed to feel this way.

Death Note so far has been my favourite
Naoki Urasawa's Monster is getting up there
if you can throw me some titles similar to these then sure
but I guess my beef is more that Naruto is praised so much, i mean its good but I'm not feeling it as THAT good
on a side note, no there are plenty of Shounen that aren't extremely actiony (like Death Note, Bakuman, Hikaru no Go, Monster, Spiral, Love Hina, etc.)
I'm talking about Shounen manga that are action driven purely

I personally never really expect much from action shounen (Apart from Beelzebub but that is more for its comedy). I normally dabble more into Seinen which seem to have more fluid action without the power-up arcs or the unnecessary shouting of names.

I like some action mangas, but yeah, it tends to drag out way too long. (yes, Naruto, I'm looking at you)
Proabaly the reason why I prefer romance mangas than action, but hey, that's just me....

It's a cliche plot.
You're always going to get them, and some people do actually like that sort of stuff. So when you come across one that does hold this plot and you don't like it, drop it. Simple
If that means there is less Shounen action manga for you to read, then tough. Don't be so picky

I quit such crap a long time ago.
I can maintain a better win ratio with
hitting people without going to secret hermit teachers
who teach you how to shoot ions from one's blade.
I mainly read slice of life and psychological
stuff and sometimes comedy if it is any good.

last manga I read:
Soil
read it, its pretty damn good it. starts off as a simple mystery and piles more and more mystery as you go along
paraphrasing... 'some mysteries aren't meant to be solved'

Psychological thriller, you can try......
Alive!
bradherley no basha
20th century boys
I think Naruto get 1st compare to other mangas coz most of the readers who read Naruto are kids (between 7-13), they don't read another manga such death note, monster, etc...
If you do the vote between Naruto and Death Note (or others), for example the voters are 50% children and 50% manga lovers. The results will be 50% + xx% for Naruto. Of course Naruto win the vote.

I still like lame action scenes, no matter how repetive they get
Not sure why, however.

Two reasons why I still read Naruto even though I dislike it.
1. It's still better than some random rip-off shounen manga.
2. I want to see how it ends.
I also think it's lame whenever something gets overly "popular" people tend to dislike it immediately just to feel unique or something. This doesn't go for everybody of course. And I still dislike Naruto. Just don't hate it. That is all.
And on-topic, fighting in shounen is a big necessity. But I still like seinen much better because of reasons someone already mentioned.
