Then all the male leads in Seinen Romances are detestable bastards.

Fair statement?

Not all but many good series aren't as good as they could be because of annoying male leads. Shonen wussies who hide for every little thing, taking up 10 pages each chapter is extremely annoying. The male leads from seinen manga that can't be nice for one second (in a non-humorous way) is also annoying. Sometimes.

That's a long rant.

I don't know if I've ever read a shonen romance that didn't have a wuss lead character. But I've definitely read seinen romances where the lead wasn't a bastard. Even still, it seems to me that you're probably right: it's more likely than not that the lead in a seinen romance will be a "detestable bastard."

The seinen romances I follow, and which don't have bastard lead characters, mostly seem to have been written by mangaka who publish in a number of genres, so their works don't really follow the usual cliches. For example, the lead in Nicoichi is a nice guy, but then KINDAICHI Renjuurou normally publishes in shonen and has also done shoujo and josei series as well.

I don't think that you can put all the male leads of romance-shounen in one category, is true that a big number of the main characters are wussies but not always(there are more perverts biggrin ), and in seinen there are a bigger range of personalities for the main character, so i disagree with you, sorry no
