I didn't read all of your post... but you realize that there is something like that already.

Go to the advanced search function. There is a category box in it. Place two categories that you want the series to have.. and there you go.

Is there an option for categories you want excluded from your search?

I like the idea of having things split between "Girl" and "Boy" tags unless the tag isn't that popular.
I second this.

Go for it, but I won't be the one doing it

Ok, that's what I'll do, then. I'll start working on it now.

Edit: Ok, finished. Here's a summary of the changes:
-changed each entry under "Animal Girl/s," "Kemonomimi," "Nekomimi," and "Ushimimi" to the appropriate animal girl or animal boy tag (as a result, deleted these four categories)
-added "/s" to all animal boy and animal girl tags that didn't already have it
-renamed "Bunny Boy/s" to "Rabbit Boy/s" and "Bunny Girl/s" to "Rabbit Girl/s"

The "Crossdressing," "Transvestite," and "Trap" tags all seem to be the same to me, so I'm planning to merge them. (I'm planning to merge them all into "Crossdressing," since that one seems the most general to me.) But first I thought I'd better ask you all, is there enough of a difference between these terms to warrant keeping them separate (if so, please explain it to me)?

Also, the tag "Reverse Trap" made me think, it might be worth differentiating these tags into boy to girl and girl to boy versions, so I'm planning to do that as well. Any objections?

Last, it seems to me that there are 3 main gender-bender categories, and it'd be useful for each of them to have a different tag, so that it's easy to tell them apart:
1. The character simply wears the clothes that the opposite sex typically wears. (I plan use the "Crossdressing" tag for this, with boy to girl and girl to boy versions)
2. The character crossdresses and has an operation, hormone treatment, etc. in order to appear to be the opposite sex, but the character's sex does not actually change (they still have the sex chromosomes (XX or XY) that they originally had)
3. The character's sex actually changes through a magic transformation (sex chromosomes change XX to XY or vice-versa)
The problem is that I don't know what tags to use for #2 and #3. Any ideas or comments?

Transvestite has the connotation that the person cross-dressing wants to cross-dress.

Cross-dressing is just the act. An example when this term would be used and not transvestite... a female/male student is asked/required to dress as the opposite gender for a show or to hide his/her identity. The character does not necessarily want to cross-dress, but they do it for the plot.

Trap... that is where the author wants to trick the reader/audience into thinking the character is a different gender... or refuses to define the gender of the character... such as Prunus Girl (I stopped reading this one; so, I can't be certain if the term trap still applies... plot-wise).

There's a "Bodybuilder" category and a "Body Builder" category. Perhaps they should be merged?

to Toto: Okay, that makes sense. I won't merge them. Those definitions you listed sound reasonable, so I'll use them from now on.

Removed the romance category...

Changed the shoujo to Josei with Shoujo like Story, but reprimanded the user anyways.

If this one should be removed, Lamb/lynira/holy... go ahead.
