She really...sucks.

All of her manga are so alike it's annoying...and the whole, "Come rape me and I'll fall in love with you" thing is so...ugh.

Not a fan of Shinjo Mayu, never will be.

her stories are horrible.. the characters always look the same with basically the same story line as well. girl gets raped by boy, girl fall in love with boy, and so on.

No. Her works are lacking in both story and art.

I like her plots and artline but honestly most of her works are... ugh... rape then fall in love. The one I truly enjoyed is:

- After School Wedding
- Fiance Shitai (her art in here is... ugh but I still enjoyed it)
- Haou Airen
- Heart No Diamond
- Midnight Children
- Apple

I'm not quite sure of myself. I haven't read much of her manga so, makes me kind of, slightly not a fan? o__o That's saying something since I'm a sucker for pretty art biggrin All the negative things I heard made me reluctant to read them.
But not saying I don't like them.

The poll tells it all... Her stories are cheesy, corny, lacks real depth. Basically her works suck and it escapes me why she's popular and has written, like, a billion mangas. Someone stuff her inside a box already.

i'd say i'm not a big fan of hers neither do i hate her
i really like reading mangas with good looking characters
but mostly with her manga the characters go berserk & the damn manga gets monotonous
her current manga ai ore! is not even worth reading...
she's running out of ideas
she should take a break...
atleast it will spare some of her readers the heartburn of reading her manga bigrazz no

I understand why some parts of Shinjo Mayu's mangas cause distaste and bother some readers. I will not say she gets it right every time or she gets every little detail right. But I am a big fan of this wonderful mangaka because one has to agree there is no other like her. I think her smut is more graphic, explicit and absorbing. If you compare her to the other well-known josei smut mangaka Yoshihara Yuki, I find that a little of the drama is lost in Yoshihara Yuki's comedy and she sometimes makes things a little too unrealistic for the sake of fun. I love her and treasure her too, because once again we don't have too many gifted mangaka's writing smut (preferably josei). So I acknowledge them and am so glad that they are out there. I pray/wish/hope that more gifted mangaka's would be encouraged and inspired to follow in their foot steps. There is definitely a demand and fan base for this kind of mangas. I am sure there are others like me who resort to getting their fix of hot, aggressive, bad boy bishies in yaoi because there is not enough material in shoujo/josei.

Having said that, I will go back to discuss Shinjo mayu's series. I read most of them, if not all. And all of them had a few exciting moments for me. That's the point of romance + smut. It gives you a delicious and exciting mixture and caters to your guilty pleasures!!

I think what you will find is that her story has repetition. The guy is aggressive (which I like to read in manga-personal taste). Now when the aggression reaches potential/actual rape yes it can be repulsive. But I say, readers should read the warning or get the hint that this is the direction Shinjo Mayu goes. I don't mind it because I differentiate between virtual mangas and reality and don't make it a moral issue when I am reading. I am reading a manga for entertainment purposes. And when I am in the smut section, I like to read exciting mature romance + aggressive bad boy bishies. It's hard for one theme to appeal to all readers. I will also say reading rape doesn't turn me on, but if you interpret things differently then yes it is exciting for me. The idea the mangaka is drawing/suggesting is that it is not really rape (even though it clearly is) somehow she makes it justifiable rape. As in love being there. Lust/ Actions controlled by heavy emotions and expressed through aggression. This is the idea. I am not saying it makes sense. If we read it and say it is suggesting that rape is okay. Then Yes this manga is not for those readers and they will definitely find it offensive and disturbing. But this manga is directed at those who ignore/look past that and can enjoy the thrill/ entertainment value this brings. I do/I can.

Below are her series that had memorable parts:

-->- Haoi Airen: I loved it. I wished the ending was different. I wish there is a sequel. I think Hakuron is the sexiest bad boy bishie in shoujo/josei manga for me. To top him off, I only suggest reading Viewfinder (Yaoi) by Yamane Ayano. Asami Ryuichii is IT, for me.
[If anyone has any other bad boy bishie's to suggest/share for me pleaseeee do recommend]

--> Love Celeb: I liked the comedy + smut mixture at the beginning few volumes. It lost it's strength mid-way because of the plot.

--> The Poisonous Flower: My favourite shoujo one-shot smut. I loved it and WISH it has a sequel. Again the bad boy Mitsuru was really baaad. So I loved it.

--> Kaikan Phrase: I only wish she had concentrated on Hair Airen as much as she concentrated on this series. And gave Haoi Airen 80+ chapters. Anyway this was less mature than Haoi Airen, and I liked Hakuron more.

--> Sex= Love square: I liked it. I hope it is completely translated

I pay tribute to this mangaka for the courage to write these mangas. She gave me excitement and fun through her writing and I thank her all the people involved in bringing those mangas to us and making them accessible for us.
I think Shinjo Mayu has great potential. I think she knows how to mix smut with romance and make it an exciting and thrilling read. Her men are drawn sexy!! I think if she would focus more on simple but better planned detailed plots it would be great. The men are HOT but I wish there was more character development and more slower romance development. But not at the expense of less smut!!Slow romance development + smut is a deadly combination!!!

I am 29 and I do think Mayo Shinju caters to the guilty pleasures of women (shoujo & jose). So I hope she focuses more on the mature themes than the younger age group just because there are NOT enough mangas for my age groupsmile

Ehmm, not really. I liked Ren'ai Strip, though. But that's about it. :/
