I used to dislake smut because I also thought it was all about fanservice, but now some of my favorite titles are in the smut genre (Midnight Secretary, Silver).

Um, I've become more tolerant of shounen-ai. There are two titles that I like; but I seriously doubt that I'll read anymore though bigrazz

I used to really dislike Yaoi and shonen-ai when I first heard about it, but a friend got me used to it and now I really like it. I also used to dislike seinen, but now for some reason I like that as well.

I used to also dislike smut and anything that could be deemed "wrong" by a social conservative, but now I've changed, I guess.

Shounen sports: thought it was boring, but now it's among my faves
Slice of Life: another I thought boring, but have come to love
Seinen & Josei & Yuri: well, I like some of them
Yaoi: 10 years ago I wouldn't touch it. Now I grab whatever I can get my hands on.

I still like my shoujo "pure" though. ;D

I tried every demographic pretty early on.
There wasn't anything I stayed away from (genres included).

I had a few poor first experiences with Bara, so I wasn't interested.
After a while, I found nicer bara and grew to somewhat like it.
It's like gay manga porn. Bear porn.
What can I say? Sometimes the mood strikes. XD.

I noticed many people pointed at mecha.
Well, I can't say, even today... Haven't read much mecha, but I'm not against it.

The only thing I can think of right now is that I read one Yaoi that I liked. Does that count? confused

at first i was really repellant and disturbed and disgusted by yaoi and yuri.. but now i guess... im more tolerant to it and i dont get that much disturbed anymore by two guys going anal <if its not that hardcore> and two girls licking each other <again if not that graphic>... but tolerance doesnt mean love so... i still dont read this stuff.. but i do have to admit two boys together does look good.. laugh

Shoujo. Mostly because there are soooooooo many series there, and not all of them are as bad as I thought at first.

I'd have to say Psychological and Historical. I kept away from them in the past cause I would get bored when I read it, but now that I'm older and wiser I see how good they are (And this isn't just for manga, but other forms of entertainment as well).

Yaoi: I used to think bad about this genre without even read 1. But now some of my favorites are yaoi.
Seinen: Before I'd read Parasyte, and then Emma, I never touch any Seinen and kinda avoid that genre (I will not read the manga if that manga is listed as Seinen even when the art impresses me.)

Boys' love. Definitely BL. It's practically drug now; I need to read it.
I've read more yaoi in less time it took me to read shoujo, and it's hard to go back.

In the beginning, I wasn't all too interested in seinen.

But now.
I really like it. I've grown to appreciate it. x]

Sci-fi - It can be OK. Sometimes.
BL/GL - I'm more open minded.
Adult - I'm more open minded, as long as the plot is good.
Smut - ONLY if the plot is good. Otherwise, I gag.
Mature - I'm not as much as a fraidy-cat anymore. I used to see "mature" labeled on a series and it scared me to wonder what might be included in it. xD (Keep in mind, I'm young.)

yaoi. i used to be pretty closed minded, but i've gotten way more open. and so many BL romance stories are way better than shoujo.
