Have you guys reacted to a recent crusade against a couple of manga sites? mad Recently E-hentai.org has been forced to remove material from their site by their advertisers and also Mangafox has been forced to remove material by their advertisers.

What I've mainly reacted to is that Mangafox has been forced to remove manga because of their advertisers. Series like Dance in a vampires bund, Omamori Himari and even Kaichou wa maid-sama have been removed because they were too "mature" and contained minors. dead

It seems like the selection of purged mangas is quite random, there are still some pretty mature stuff on mangafox while they remove a manga like Omamori Himari which is just regular ecchi (not to mention Kaichou wa maid-sama which is not even ecchi but a regular shoujo). If the advertisers are gonna remove every ecchi manga and every manga that contains minors theres seriously not gonna be much manga left on the site.

I can understand why they want to censor lolicon hentai from e-hentai, but mangafox? I can't comprehend how the people who have made these decisions are thinking? confused Are they just stupid, or are they rabid white knights and pedohunters? Probably a combination of both since they seem to be unable to do the job properly.

It's just Ink and paper I can't understand how it's supposed to harm anyone. If nudity is so awful, then what about all the violence we watch daily? Apparently it's okay to read manga where people beat and kill eachother while seeing some nudity will completely ruin peoples lives.

*facepalm*

In a way, I'm glad they're doing this because...

Online reading FTL!!

Nevertheless, I do understand what you're getting at though...
but what can you do when companies are owned by old, oversensitive, backward thinking farts who think everything that didn't exist back in their days are the spawns of Satan? :\

wha- O__O?! Did this just happen today?
even kaichou wa maid sama...that just come down to ridiculous. Maybe it was removed because it had been licensed? Though that doesn't seems right considering other licensed manga are still there.
I'm shocked, shocked...

Hey I resent that.. well i semi do since I still download what i wanna keep.

Back to topic that is just wrong why Why WHY!!!!!!! they are all series I'm currently following and love.
Come up first they promote popular manga in "conservative" countries and make them popular which in turn will make the youth want to look them up. But when confronted with the amount conflicting mangas to be found go and scew it up for the rest of us who don't find it conflicting and/are old enough to choose whether or not the read them regardless of content. mad

I mean really adults the world is full of sh*t, it is the parents duty to watch over and prepare/ teach their children for the imminent contact with it, And not go starting witch hunts.
Really people first rule of the internet if it exist you can find it online. Thou this action may deter unknowing youths to come across said materials in this case mangas, it will not stop determined youths to find it hence again it's the parents job to stop THAT from happening.

*sigh* I can understand removing the loli and whatever the hell else got removed from the hentai site. I don't understand why they would remove Kaichou wa Maid-Sama unless it has a license.

Even so, I don't think any of it should have been removed. I think that its just ridiculous. Why do people even think for one second that they can change the internet? Getting rid of manga from one site really makes no difference. It just makes people angry at them laugh

Just after reading your post I checked out MangaFox and got pissed, they removed so many good mangas, and some of them were on my reading list. I dont get the point of this, I mean, MangaFox always warns its readers with "Mature" tags, if the manga is not suitable for minors, so why get rid of the stuff altogether? I mean the site also has readers and followers who arent minors like me, so what about us? Its not like all of the readers are minors. They are mistaking Japanese Mangas as American Cmics and think only minors read them, which is wrong.

Also, the cencoring of the E-Hentai site made me laugh. I mean its a HENTAI site, what's the point of censoring it? They removed the Incest Galleries, the Loli galleries....

Hmmm... so what if the titles get removed?

There're always MangaTraders, Subwire and a ton more of other online reading/manga download sites. confused

I don't really visit online reading sites but I did look into the thread about this on Mangafox. I don't understand why they removed mature mangas when the article that they posted as reason for removing the titles only sited lolicon and shotacon. Are lolicon and shotacon titles usually tagged with 'mature' and 'ecchi'? That's the only reason I can see as to why they saw it fitting to remove the whole section. O-o

Mangafox isn't the only site, many are doing so as well, as of just recently too.

Yes, but even Hentai sites need advertisers to keep the site going. Advertisers are threatening to drop them if they don't remove Lolicon and Shotacon from their site, I think it's wise on their part to remove them and keep what they can. A site can't really just thrive on online donations you know. ._.

Yes and no to the indifference. Mainly no, though - while I wouldn't even consider reading online (a two-page size-fit format in CDisplay is much more convinient) the fact that some old loons/prudes/weak men and women run around and "bookburn" anything that doesn't fit their values and morals is highly disturbing.

Your posts are usually nonsensical, but yes, I agree so much. If there is one thing that annoys me the most, then it's moralfags. It's media for a reason. M-e-d-i-a. In a s-i-m-u-l-a-t-e-d environment. This all started with that stupid Rapelay controversy too, I think. Ugh.

Luckily that bill to ban lolicon and the like in Japan didn't went through (they only tried to enforce it because of foreign pressure anyways). Although there was news about Osaka banning some questionable stuff, including BL that features Shotacon characters.

WTH?!
Manga updates is listed

Mangaupdates is listed because we have a lolicon/shotcon section.
But since this has nothing to do with reading only having to do with keeping a library of information they won't do anything?

Honestly, I think the censorship is ridiculous.
I would rather have pedophiles enjoying themselves on cartoon characters rather then real children.

As for Kaichou-wa. The only reason it could have been taken down is because of licensing.
I mean Midnight Secretary is still up there for gods sake.

I don't mind, I downloaded for plenty of years before I discovered online reading. Online reading is just so much more convenient. I'm just worried this is going to trickle down to the actual scanlators.

Here's a link to kaichou wa Kaichou-wa

Because the other manga reading sites arent good enough, and dont have enough collection with low-quality. The only good ones are OneManga, MangaFox, MangaToshokan, and maybe AnimeA
and just like Kitteh_13, I too find online reading much more convenient, and you get alot of different types of mangas at one place, which is the best thing about online manga sites. I do download from the scanlating sites, especially the mangas I think worth saving in my computer. Dear Lord even MangaUpdates is listed in that Mark-old-prude's article. I cant believe I wont be able to read Dance in the Vampire Bund and Omamori's Himari because of this Old prejudiced Git. I mean I dont read these mangas for watching nude loli's or Shotas, I read it for their plot and story.

Yeah, I saw that and I lol'ed. o-o

There's a difference between providing info and actually hosting it, but I'm guessing it all comes down to the searching engine and advertisers~

Yep, yep.

That would mean any kind of articles pertaining lolicon should be banned too.

It's just information, yo~

Anyways, we shouldn't give this too much attention, or else it'll blow up. ;o;

Well, kinda saw it coming for hentai titles but seriously? Kaicho wa Maid-sama? Seeeriously? eek That's some mild stuff... Even Animax shows it without much toning down, though they changed the title to just Maid-sama. But still... wow...

I download my manga anyway so not much of a problem for me laugh
