It might be because it could end in a tragic way.
But don't stay away from this story. I really think it's worth reading it regardless of the fact that it may end as a tragedy (I too usually keep a distance from this genre).

it's probably marked as tragedy because
Spoiler (highlight to view)
her half brother gets hit on the head and could possible be dead, her best friend disguises herself as the main character and gets killed in front of her eyes, and her mom is murdered

but it only sets up the story. so as sad (and boring) as the beginning is, once you get past it, it improves immensely

Yea, what britnh3 said. Some sad things in the first volume to set up the story.

Once you get past the first volume (after she arrives in the other world) you'll absolutely love it. smile

While I haven't read this yet, I am a bit confused. I thought something was only a tragedy if it ended in tragedy. From the above spoiler it certainly sounds like tragic things do happen, but unless it has an unhappy ending, it counts as something else, right? So since it isn't over yet, can it be defined as tragedy? Or maybe the author said it was?

Or am I understanding the genre wrong? Because if every story where someone dies is a tragedy, then I've read a lot more than I thought I have...

eh, the first volume was pretty sad. and i guess i should probably of mentioned
Spoiler (highlight to view)
there is a prophecy that while Lena will change the world, she'll die in the end and won't return home to her half bro/boyfriend [they didn't know they were related >.<].

but it's not completed so...anything goes...

Just finished reading, and I can now say that the "Tragedy" tag is wrong. Sure, there are deaths here and there, but many war stories are like that without being tagged as tragedy.
Spoiler (highlight to view)
The main group survived as a whole in the end (even Michael), and her supposedly dead "brother" was catatonic, but alive.
