When searching for new manga to read I often come across webcomics. I'm not interested in them because they are different from ordinary comics - they usually have a different panelling style, art and even plot. For these reasons I suggest that 'webcomic' becomes a new type (like 'manhwa', 'oneshot', 'doujinshi' etc).

If there's a category for it then can we add web comics made by "american" people, too?
or is it strictly Asian webcomics or something?

webcomic should be put Under whatever it is, or like to the side or something, like

manhwa - webcomic or
webcomic

rather than just

webcomic

As far as I know webcomics are not included on this site, except maybe for doujinshi which are in that grey area.
Oh yea OELs are american or not japanese comics, drawn in manga style, but they have been published at least in one magazine so they can't be considered webcomics.

yea I agree too. I recently found out a pretty good web comic called traceand noblesse. I didn't know it was a webcomic until I read few chapters.

To people who didn't know there were webcomics here: there's actually a web comic category.

No agreed and no anything.
The category works just fine,
especially since there're OEL webcomics, manhwa webcomics and so on.
You won't be able to search for an OEL + webcomic, for example.

Seriously, how is putting webcomic as a type going to help anyone?

Edit:
The best way to go is to be able to filter categories.
Unfortunately, we don't have that implemented.

Category filtering would be nice...
'webcomic' could be also added to 'Extended options' (like oneshots), but I don't know if it's possible technically.

I explained why a 'webcomic' type would be useful and apparently some people agree with me... But if you think there would be no use for it then I'll cope with it (and it's not sarcasm, although it may sound like this, sorry).

"Useful" is not necessary, no need to add more than we already have.
Web comic =/= manga(or equivalents)...don't really see why we should include them... none

But they are already in the database, so people who aren't interested in webcomics could at least exclude them from their search...
I don't want to be pushy, if you think that such thing wouldn't be useful, that's fine by me...

Webcomics aren't really allowed... but this might only apply to fanfiction webcomics.

However, there are some webcomics, like Trace, that are sanctioned by the publishers, because they're either published in book format and/or on the publishers website.

As for the webcomics that are scanlated by Easy Going Scans... not sure. Daum is not a publisher but a place like geocities. So, it could fall under

The definition of doujinshi for MangaUpdates is a published fan-made work that is based on an existing series. For us, an original work is NOT a doujinshi.
