I am not embarrassed to tell my friends i read manga and watch anime because the majority of my friends have at least some interest in either one and if they dont and find it odd they can shove it because they cant change my interests. bigrazz my best friends either like it or go along with it when i force them to read/watch manga/anime smile wink grin

my friends do know about it(the ones who like manga themselves and even those who doesnt care about it at all/dont know manga), but it's not like i'm boasting about it everywhere cuz there(here) are really a very little group of people who know what manga/anime is...;(

that's sad and cuz they dont understand they want to laugh at you(the mean way not friendly) and stuff, but oh well luckily i'm not the kind of person one can laugh at if he/she still want to live(dont take it literally) so it doesnt trouble me...and hey, if anyone dares to boast about it too much and it gets too annoying to me my friends help me out^^

so, yeah all my friends know about it, but not all of the even know what actually manga is... wink

so, i'm not embaressed to let my friends know...^^that's just who i am and they understand... smile

Nope, half my friends read manga and the other half hate manga so i hit them with the books.lol i use to read my manga at football and baseball practice in high school and people made fun of me so i either beat them with the hard copy till they had manga imprinted on their face or i just made sure they got hit in football or smacked with a ball in baseball. One time in baseball practice a guy took one of my manga and ripped it up and laughed at me so when i was up to bat i lined it up and nailed him dead in the crotch with the ball,30 minutes later he came back to practice and i did it again,i repeated that for about 3 weeks so he bought me manga and never touched it again, but now i wonder if he can have kids now

hahahahahha...that's a good one... biggrin

It wasnt my fault he decided he thought he could best me and ripped my Gundam manga,he's lucky cause i was gonna use the bat,i still cant find that manga to this day and that was 4 years ago

wow.. so many stories about people's manga in school.. i envy u guys (only on the 'bringing to the school part' though)... manga here is so common yet to bring it to school will only give the result of it being confiscated T__T

Hmm, I dun think it's something so abnormal or unhealthy that you have to be embarassed. It's just a bit weird when some 20 girlie like me still like manga and anime. But it's a matter of hobby after all. While some may dive their heads in clubs, marijuana..., here am I - with my harmless and enjoyable manga. It's just that my taste for manga has changed along with my growing up. From golden time favorite Doraemon and Naruto, I read more seinen and josei. I used to read 5 or so at the same time, and countless oneshots. Now, just 1 or 2 good manga is enough for a month, one chap/week, and more for vaction.

I have friends who read manga and ones who don't. For the first type, they're somewhat even more addicted. For the second type, they know but don't give a damn XD

Some of them started to read manga before I did...I don't have a single friend who has never watched anime, which are mostly adaptations from mangas or light novels, etc. So if they hate mangas or make fun of me or something, they would just be hypocrites.

I'm not embaressed at all, I learnt to deal with stupid questions and negativity so I'm rather honest with anyone about my hobby smile
If you have enough confidence and express how important manga ( or anime ) is to you, I don't think ppl fel bad about it...At least that's what I experienced...
In the beginning I too were kind of shy admitting my love for manga, but as I grew out of this phase I realized the ppl around me react the way I reflect emotions at them...Basically my own confidence makes them think positively about my rather 'weird and rare' hobby laugh

I'm not embarrassed at all.

I guess the reason why is because all my friends know that I love anime and manga, and they don't feel like stopping me. Many of my friends still read comic books (American and Chinese) or they're fans of anime and manga themselves. Many of them still watch Cartoon Network even, so there's no point in being embarrassed.

In fact, I'm proud of it because I gain so much knowledge just by reading and laughing my head off. Many books can't compare to what manga teaches you. (Oh, but please don't try and summon a genie, that doesn't work. Rofl.)

As well, I like letting people look at me shocked when they find out I don't study and procrastinate with manga, since they see me as a very studious person. It's fun to kick them in the head sometimes. biggrin

I travel two hours by bus every school day. So usually I take two manga's with me. =/ And I might even read in class 'till the lesson begins. Thank God our teachers have a opinion that's like "I don't give a shit, your education is your responsibility. I'll get my paycheck, even if you don't get your diploma!"

I'm not embarrassed, because my friends read more than I do. As for my other friends who aren't into manga, I don't have any, because I like hanging out with fellow nerds.

It helps that being a nerd isn't a bad thing where I live, because it applies to half the population.

I'm not embarrassed, since most of my friends watch anime or read manga. The ones that don't at least know what it actually is.

Well all of my friends know about my hobby, because I say it openly. If they are really my friends they respect me for my personality and accepts it.

Well I'm not going to just suddenly tell them that I read manga. If they happen to find out that I read manga I won't really care, but it might be a bit awkward for them if they find out the kind of manga I read.

I haven't brought up my manga reading habits to any of my friends, but I would not try to hide it either. I don't care if they like manga or not, I have nothing to be ashamed of biggrin
