I thought I've already made such topic, but it seems that I didn't...

I'm looking for two types of characters (preferably protagonists):
A character feeling empty
A character who doesn't have a purpose in life, just... lives, but doesn't know why. I found this topic, but unlike the person who made it, I don't think that the reason for it has to be traumatic past. It can be anything. Also, a happy end is not necessary. And I don't mind shounen ai (although I'd rather not read yaoi).
Some examples:
Vinland Saga - losing the only thing that he lived for
Aegis - bad childhood and some other things
Fullmetal Alchemist - there was that doctor who couldn't deal with his memories of war

A character thinking he/she is disgusting
A character who, for some reasons, thinks that he/she's disgusting and shouldn't be involved with other people, so he isolates himself from them. Again, it can be caused by various things. The character can fall deeper and deeper into isolation, or quite the opposite - find people who understand him/her.
Dawn - Tsumetai Te - the illness he's infected with
Ao no Exorcist - his... unusual parent (not sure about this one)
Naruto - Sasuke Well, he may not think he's disgusting, but he thinks that he's different.

I'm writing it in one topic because I think there may be a manga that fits both requests.
Unfortunately (), I can't stand ecchi, hentai and GL. I don't mind shounen-ai, though

Deep Love - Ayu no Monogatari and its associated prequels / sequels should fit one (or possibly both) of your specifications.

Himizu - The protagonist has a mental illness which causes him to feel 'empty'...hopefully you don't mind that.

Soul to Seoul - I think this falls under no.1 as well, though it's being a long time since I read it.

Seizon - Life and Undercurrent both fit the first request.

Variante , Doll Star , Dear Friends - Haven't read any of them, but I'm pretty certain they contain what you're looking for.

For some reason I can't think of anything for no.2 - even though I'm sure I've read a lot like that

I just thought of something for the second request; Area 88. The manga hasn't been scanned, though, so you'll just have to watch the anime.

Yesterday o Utatte - they guy felt like his life is empty with no purpose.
