no!!
even though there is like some smut out there that have that as like the main plot.. the said "dominant"male does things to the weak female lead because she has done something that is uber minor to him!! o h damn it.. but i have to admit some of those guys are overly smexy and it usually ends ina rather sweet way.. but still!! hell no!! im a feminist!

i think u have read some of shinjo mayu's works biggrin
that author is an extreme chauvinist all his manga are like that

Shinjo Mayu is a woman.

If I see "rape"in the category, I skip it altogether. If I find out the story I'm reading has rape in it and it wasn't labeled properly, I stop reading it. Rape is a terrible thing and I am disgusted that it is seen as OK no matter the genre.

No if it's shoujo 'cos it's just stupid
Yes if it's hentai ,i've read some really good one---> H mangaka knows how to make it good

Btw,I only accept if it's happened in manga. In real life, there's no way in hell the rapist should be forgiven, regardless of the victims age or gender

I do not like it, but neither do I dislike it to the point of not reading it.

Personally I find it absurd that mangakas (female mangakas especially) would want to portray their heroines as mindless drones who turn to blobs when near another handsome man, but hey, if it has good art, then I'll be okay with reading it.

its pretty funny, it annoys the hell out of me in shoujo/jousei but in yaoi, its perfectly okay. I mean viewfinder, the started that way, and I freaking love it.

The way ppl in this topic seem to think male rape is somehow not as bad as female is just..sad. I bet if I said a straight man being raped by a man is worse than a straight woman being raped by a man people here would be seeing red. Just because one turns you on and the other makes you feel offended doesn't mean they aren't both just as wrong.

No. If that's in the summary, I hit the back button. If I somehow got the vibe (even just a bit) that she's falling for her rapist, I'd say on my screen "Screw you. Fuck." and find another thing to do.

It's extremely unrealistic and somewhat demoralizing to me when a female would love the person who hurt and violated her. Rape is a big thing, it causes trauma, severe emotional problems, and sometimes mental instability. Be it a girl or guy being raped, taking it lightly as making a story where they fall for their rapist is pushing it.

That's my opinion. No offense to anyone who...likes this kind of plot. dead

Over the nice guy? No.

But if shes just on a train and gets gang raped and decides she likes surprise sex with strangers, thats fine.

The only thing I could accept is acting as if she falls for him in order to completely destroy his live. And as soon as she get's real feelings for the dude I'm gone.

I'm a guy who reads shoujo. This best explains my thoughts

Quote from The Guy
Here's my two cents.
I feel this concept is the most retarded plot device I have ever read.
I don't read much shoujo, mostly because I've read too many summaries that mention some sort of abduction, buying of the girl, rape or other things of that sort, yet the girl will still fall in love with the guy. How some of these guys in shoujo manga treat the girls, yet they still fall for him baffles me. It's stupid and makes no rational sense.
It seems to me that the guy could kidnap her, lock her in his basement, pull out her fingernails, rape her over the course of years, father several childeren with her, but she would still fall in love with him as long as he's hot.
I could totally imagine something like that being serialized at some point, if it hasn't already.

But then again, I'm a guy so what the hell do I know. I like rationality, where it seems most women think more emotionally. (fact)

Yes, in manga I like it though in real life I might not. This may be because in manga, I do not want to wait 10 volumes to get to sex. In reality you might have to test the guy first, but in manga you can assume the target guy is The One. Interestingly, I prefer scenarios where the girl is either unwilling or being played. I do not like it where the girl is consensually or happily raped - the first time, it really has to be a one sided affair. There is shock, the girl gets hurt. This is something I still prefer in real life - of course the romance has to be there, but I still prefer a guy who is a little dominant, manipulative, and willing to "test" you before deciding how they will approach you and make the right moves. meh.

I don't know...

Maybe no...and maybe yes...
It all depends really, it's just a bunch of tangled rubber bands in the human mind. If the girl chooses to fall for her rapist, it would be wrong, but it's up to her since pretty much her mind and body is hers.

I wouldn't really read it because it's just over done and plain bad.

On the very very rare occasions where it's written well enough where it actually makes sense yes..

Otherwise (atm to my memory every single instance except once, and I don't even remember the title anymore) no.

It just doesn't.. And isn't.... Well... Not even Stockholm Syndrome can make me swallow the whole "I love my rapist" thing..

For the most part authors for Manga just don't write well enough to be able to pull it off. I'm sorry.

Generally, no, but as someone in an earlier post mentioned, if it's well-written enough and done tastefully, then probably yes.
