Check out the first post. If you liked ichigo 100% then you have to check out I''s, i put the link up twice i believe, just click on it. Its a shounen romance manga with extremely good art.

Hmmm, i think nobody so far has mentioned,
Lament of the Lamb from Kei Toume,
7 volume romance/drama thing. Might be something for deathgod1989. Well, i wouldn't really call it a romance. Deathgod should check I's, or Video Girl Aye ( i am not sure i spelt that correct ) Lillim Kiss is a short Romance Story too.
Haruka Machi-E is a nice 2 volume story about a salaryman reliving is youth.
And again i recommend Dead End
Transmetropolitan. 60 chapters of pure genius.
Somebody already mentioned Planetes, nice story, strong romance plot in there for Deathgod.
For wierd wierd bunny timetravelling action Ryuguden is now complete. Read and wonder.
Ok, now i think i got my 5 or so.

cool, flame of recca is finished? i'll check that one out asap, i've heard of it but never seen either anime or manga. Akira though, is it like the movie? cause i found the movie to be rather confusing, maybe its because it was dubbed though.

let's just say Akira the movie covers only like volume 1 then diverts near the end and just skips to the end (ending is different though of course). i didnt care at all for the movie myself <_< but the was manga was extremely good.

To Silnet,
Akira the manga is as already said really a whole different thing than the movie. And to all of you who haven't read Akira, go read it! And BTW it isn't 6 volumes, but something like 20. Here in germany ( i am sure elsewhere) they got em in 6 telephone size books (really fricking huge), that's what mellowmut was talking about. Akira is a must read, it's the Manga that brought adult manga to europe and north america. I even saw a french edition of Akira completly colored in 14 Hard Bound books. ( almost nothing gets that ) It's almost like the Lord of the Rings of adult sci-fi manga.
so i will finish my post with a typical akira dialog:
tetsuo:" KANEEEEEDA!!!!"
kaneda:"TETSUO!!!!!" i am sure this dialog in the last book fills about 10 pages.
Go read it.

bully_jesus, it's originally six huge tankoubon (the way Otomo released it), with ~2100 pages all in all. Dividing it into smaller issues would ruin the epic feeling to it, imho.
And the fully-colored version is kinda severely edited, so better not touch that.

oh, I thought that they were released in the regular volume size first, and than later on in those big books, sorry for the misinformation folks.

i think that's a great way for mangas to sell, in large, phonebook-like volumes. I wouldn't mind buying it regularly if it lasted that long, no matter the price. They should do this for all completed mangas, and keep thsoe small, dainty paperback mangas for new releases.

Well, some manga, when being re-released, does get stuffed into these kind of large volumes.
At least, that's what ANN sometimes says in the info on releases...
Not that I've ever held a real Japanese manga tankoubon in my hands... xD

the normal volume size is at least a lot better than the way they sell comics in north america, i HATE those little Marvel booklets of 20-30 pages. I really could never collect them.
