I'm also interested in a manga like Gantz. The most important thing for me though would be the "any of the main characters could be killed off at any moment" factor. That's damn awesome if you ask me.

I think you could try Kisejjuu (parasite). It's got the necessary violence and at least I didnt see anything wrong with the plot

Battle Royale is an excellent recommendation, too bad I've already seen it. But yeah, I recommend it too.

While Berserk is good, i don't think it quite lives up to Gantz. I think it's a little too predictable.

I think it's rather hard to recommend a manga "like" GantZ.
The mangaka specifically stated himself that he was trying to push the limits on creating the most violent, whacked out, crazy story that present day companies would be willing to publish.
So that kind of limit's your choices eh?

Try Eden, got what you were looking for, except not ecchi and not a finished story. Might be a little too intellectual for the Gantz fan base.

Hoshi no Samidare has an oddly similar setup to Gantz and a small amount of the associated death. I wouldn't say it's 'like Gantz', but it reminded me of it a lot while I was reading it.
Mmm, guess Elfen Lied has the various elements of huge amounts of gore and ecchiness. If you think Gantz has a strong plot I guess Elfen Lied's won't be a problem for you.
Mirai Nikki maybe?
I dunno - the last thing that comes to mind when someone says 'Gantz' is 'strong plot', so ... yeah - these don't, but you might enjoy them anyway.

SO any manga at all that can include Violence, Strong Plot, good Characters,
Didn't read it, watched it, but Monster
Pluto
Anything by Matsumoto Jiro
Milk Closet
Fire Candy
Lone Wolf and Cub
Hanzou no Mon
Samurai Executioner
Battle Angel Alita
Blame!
second Battle Royale and Ichi the Killer
note: I wouldn't really say they're like Gantz, but they do involve all three of those aspects.
