Reality Television: Your Opinion?

Poll
Do you like reality TV? (For example: American Idol, America's Top Model, Big Brother, The Apprentice, Hell's Kitchen...)
Yeah, I love it! I watch it regularly and try to keep up with all the episodes!
I like it. I watch it when it's on, but I don't make a point of tuning in just for that.
I dislike it. I'll avoid it if I can, but if I'm with people that like it, I guess I can try to tolerate it.
I HATE IT. I WISH IT NEVER EXISTED. IT MAKES ME WANT TO BREAK MY TV. D:<
I don't really care - or at least, I don't like it or dislike it more than anything else on TV.
Depends on the show. I love some, I hate some.

I detest current reality TV. It's gotten way out of hand. I watched the first season of Big Brother, when it was actually interesting as a social experiment and not a bunch of freaks locked upo together and forced to do humiliating things. I never watch reality TV now, I will tolerate Britain's got talent or X Factor during the audition stages, just because some people are so bad it's funny. That is as far as I go though. I really can't stand it, or they way everyone talks about it ALL THE TIME! Like I care! My friends and family all have at least one show they watch but I just stick myheadphones in and read manga instead, way more entertaining.

Personally I don't consider Top Gear, Braniac, MythBusters etc etc etc reality TV. I do watch the science programmes on occassion though.

Can Mythbusters really be considered reality tv?
It's obviously scripted.
Nobody pretends things to "just randomly happen as part of real life".
I like the show, btw. : D

As for Reality TV in general - no, I don't like it.
And I know what you mean.
There's an Israeli version to 'Big Brother", and every time it has a new season people just don't shut up about it. It's very annoying.
Thankfully, my general group of friends don't follow the trend (or I would have flipped...).

I do watch Survivor/Various cooking shows when there's nothing better to watch,
but certain things (the purest of this putrid genre) are just unwatchable...

I hate it. I hate it so much that I don't even feel like writing about it. People in such shows are usually stupid or annoying, talking about their "everyday" problems, about which I don't care at all.

The type of show I hate the most is Big Brother and the similar ones. A few days ago my friend told me about the TV series called "Dead Set", it's about people from such show suddenly attacked by zombies. Sounds interesting smile

I like MythBusters and I don't think it's reality tv.

The only kind of reality shows that I can't tolerate are the ones where they just follow "celebrities" through their daily lives. The other ones I can at least tolerate.

But I have to admit though, I do watch some of those dating shows from time to time. I blame Joel McHale and The Soup for introducing me to them. laugh

Quote from Pikapu
I also watch the beginning of American Idol but only the tryouts. It gets pretty boring when the show gets serious. xD

I gotta admit again, I'm the same as you with American Idol. laugh

I like interior design shows and shows about construction, which are sometimes like reality television. There isn't anything else I watch.

I don't care about what other people do - they are free to watch whatever they want!

I KNOW that most and practically all the tv shows we see on tv irregardless on where we are on the world, are scripted or whatever.

Most of the "reality" shows on MTV are one BIG EXAMPLES. They're bull. But I don't mind watching especially if friends are around. Just to waste time. smile

Hate it. Loathe it. Abhor it.

"Toddlers In Tiara"... "Sister Wives"... "Parking Wars"... "American Loggers"...

What the hell?! Do people have no imagination anymore? What I'd like to know is who watches that crap.

I'd agree with some of the previous posters that things like Myth Busters aren't really reality TV.

If you exclude things like Myth Busters, I feel pretty comfortable voting:

I'm not a big fan of TV in general, but reality TV is the bottom of the barrel.

I hate it. American Idol is trash, not one of them knows how to sing correctly using their diaphram,(except maybe adam lambert and a few others), that cooking show gives me a sick feeling because i can't stand it when people are yelling. Mythbusters is interesting but i've only seen one or two episodes of it. everything else is trash, and don't even talk to me about jersey shore.

I like them, but it's not something I'll wait until a certain time for. There are some really bad ones out there, but either way, they're entertaining. I'll watch them when nothing else is on!
