Happened upon A Town Called Panic while channel-hopping the other night, it's a crazy stop-motion French film that's basically one big chase across bizzare lands with a toy cowboy, indian and horse as the main characters. Very madcap and energetic stuff, perhaps a bit long for what it was but hilarious every step of the way!

Also watched Big Trouble In Little China before that, every bit the goofy 80s cheesefest I expected of Carpenter and then some.

I laughed and mostly cringed, but eventually got smitten for James Spader's voice. laugh

Oh I love that movie! It's the only time that I've thought James Spader was sexy. XD

And I went to see Winnie the Pooh the other day - love Eeyore!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It was far better than it had any right to be. Great special effects, thrilling action (one of the most creative action scenes to utilize the Golden Gate Bridge), and some surprisingly affecting drama. Dare I say poignant? Eh, maybe it's not at that level yet. Still, I give the film a 4/5 in terms of entertainment value.

Apocalypto.
Just a hell of a film. I can only recommend it.

Little Big Soldier smile

sad film
I know!! I was like wtf..??

on the plus side it was at least historically accurate and had a meaningful message, which is a lot more than i can vouch for many of other more modern Chinese films smile

Lately I've been into watching Hayao Miyazaki's movies. I don't know why I haven't seen them before...I'm such an idiot.
Out of the ones I've seen so far, the order I like them from best to...great is:
Howl's Moving Castle
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Ponyo & My Neighbor Totoro

Ponyo and My Neighbor Totoro were actually really good, but I'm just not into the cutesy movies.
I haven't seen Castle in the Sky, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, or Kiki's Delivery Service yet (well I've seen Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky when I was little, but I don't remember them) but I plan to! biggrin You really should check them out....Hayao Miyazaki & Studio Ghibli are the best.

Saw Cowboy's and Aliens a few days ago. I really liked it kinda a weird idea, but it works. Plus Han Solo and James Bond in the same movie how can it now be awesome.
