Is there any romance between the two leads here? I've noticed that pretty much every manga where the 2 protagonists are of the opposite gender has romance; but for once I'd like to read something different (like Shin Angyo Onshi) - where there's no romance between the lead male and his female companion. Does Dorohedoro fit this criterion, or will I have to keep looking?

It is VERY vague. It's more like friendship than romance if you ask me.

Until now (Vol. 15), there actually is NO romance. Just a few hints of what could be more than friendship, but that's about it. Same could have been said about Shin Angyo Onshi (Mun-su and his Sando) at some point. Since I've read SAO in 1 go, I'd say it's the same for Doro, regarding your question about romance. Who knows what the future will bring, though...

I'm pretty sure there is romance, but it's very subtle, IMO. Though I do think that it's leaning more onto the friendship side of things, like Sou1Reaver said.

I actually think there's more chance with En and Nikaido, haha

Thank you everyone for clarifying this for me!

Considering your views on the MCs' relationship, I guess I'll give it a go (but only after the series is complete).
