hello, it´s me again. while watching kodomo no jikan i kinda got an idea what i would like to read and so i ask you if you know some manga like this: the story follows a student while getting older(when possible in elementary or middle school, with good grades). the story doesn´t matter as long as there are several parts which play in the school and the student doesn´t get worse in his/her studies. it would also be good if the student advances to a higher school during the story (elementary school -> middle school), but the student shouldn´t be in his last school year before advancing.

These have been suggested to me, but I haven't had a chance to read them --

Quote from Dragonfiremule
Major follows the main character from kindergarten to post-college. It's a sports manga, but don't let that deter you; you'll get incredibly sucked into the character.

Piano No Mori is the same deal, but it's Elementary school to post-college. This one is VERY heart warming/slice of life-ish.

I'm not sure if these fit what you're looking for, but these look pretty good.

Hikaru no Go.

Its a series about the board game Go. It follows Hikaru from Elementary all the way to highschool. I admit, a story about a board game turned me off, but before i knew it, i finished it from front to back.

One thing to mention if you plan on watching the anime. The anime ends a few chapters before the manga. So if you want the actual ending, your have to read a few chapters of the manga. I think, the last 2 volumes would do it.

Don't know if it counts as manga, but Better Days by Jay R. Naylor is one I really liked. Some may classify it as furry, but since it's not hentai I prefer to think of it as having anthropomorphic animals.

Other than the fact that the characters are anthropomorphic animals it is a story of a pair of twins who grow up not knowing their father who died in the Vietnam War. As teenagers they realize they love each other in a way that siblings shouldn't, and part of the subtext is them having to get over those feelings and moving on to other loves.

The story starts when they are children (either pre-teen or early teen years) and ends with them as adults.

It's a real slice-of-life story that includes themes like a childhood girlfriend of the brother that is routinely raped by her father, first loves, first heartbreaks, college life, marriage, divorce, infidelity, attempting to define oneself, polyamourous relationships, forced prostitution, kidnapping, war.
