The live-action film adaptation of Kazune Kawahara's High School Debut (Kōkō Debut) shōjo manga is itself spawning a spinoff show on the LISMO service for Japanese mobile phones. The Kōkō Debut ~Debut Chokuzen Shūchū Kōza~ series of five five-minute episodes will premiere on March 4 on phones on Japan's au network. The film will open in Japan on April 1.

In the original High School Debut manga, a girl named Haruna (fashion model Ito Ōno) recruits a boy named Yoh to remake her image and get a boyfriend. Under Yoh's "coaching," Haruna transforms from a softball-playing tomboy to a feminine girl.

In this spinoff, actor Junpei Mizobata reprise his film role of Yoh, and he lectures on how to be cool and find love in high school. Singer Sae Miyazawa from the all-female idol group AKB48 plays Mami, Haruna's best friend in the manga and Yoh's assistant in this spinoff series.

Nagoya TV Next is streaming the following video with a 30-second commercial for the film, followed by a 30-second commercial for its mobile phone spinoff.

The manga ran in Bessatsu Margaret from 2003 to 2008, and 13 book volumes were compiled and published. Viz Media published the final manga volume in North America last February. Kawahara has been drawing her new Aozora Yell (Yell for the Blue Sky) high school band manga in Bessatsu Margaret since August of 2008.
