I have a Japanese beginner's guide, and if I use the words, I remember them, but I was having problems memorizing all of the - ack, I can't even think of what they're called right now.

I can, however, read hiragana and some of the katakana.

Edit!
PARTICLES!!!! That's what my problem is.

I feel so pathetic... I only know English.

Me too cry

I will take a Japanese class when I go to College.(n_n)

Me too! eyes I'd really love to major in it, or even start learning it before then, but right now, I'm just not quite sure which method I should use.

I know English, of course (and quite well I'd say), and I know a bit of Japanese, but there's no way I could speak, read, or write it fluently cry

I don't know any kanji, katakana, or hiragana, but romaji isn't too hard for me bigrazz

Besides Japanese, I'd like to learn Tagalog smile My mom is full Filipino (making me half, of course), and I know if I learned it she'd be super pleased. Recently I heard that it's a hard language to learn, anybody think that's true, or perhaps not? confused

Next year, I have to begin my two years of a Foreign Language required in order to get into a UC school and I'm not quite sure which language I should choose. Since my school is uber crappy, the only choices we have are to learn Spanish or French, both of which I have no real interest in dead It would make sense to learn Spanish, since I live in CA, but I don't really want to...Tell me, which is easier? ;D

I can speak fluent English and Tagalog, and I know enough Japanese to read manga or watch anime without translations. And I've been learning Spanish for more than half a year now, so I guess that makes 4 languages. biggrin (If you can count my intermediate-level Spanish, that is XD)

Anyway I don't think Tagalog is a hard language to learn. I think what's hard is there aren't enough good resources you can use to learn it with...unlike other languages, say...french or spanish.

Of course I know English as one, although as for the others I'm not sure how many of them I can actually claim to "know". I'm familiar with:

Cantonese: It was actually my first language, and I can usually make out what others are saying. Though, I don't speak it very well. And I can't read any Chinese.

Japanese: I'm currently taking a Japanese class, and so far I can construct a basic sentence and read hiragana. But that's about it.

Spanish: Took two Spanish courses, although I can't draw up most of what I learned anymore. Although I think I could still understand some if I read it.

I'd usually just say I know two, English and Cantonese.

It's the national language of the Philippines. Err, at least I think so.

You're correct...
It's sounds weird to me even though I'm 100% filipino.... and it sounds weird to my English-speaking classmates , unless, it's my speaking that's weird.

It's adapted some words from Spanish and the pronunciations are a little curt, it's a little hard to learn...

When I first came to an English school, my classmates asked me how to say 'stupid' in tagalog, I said 'tanga' (and it's not the way you say 'manga') and they can't produce the 'ng' sound no

Wow good memory Shattered eyes

Yea, Tagalog, English, and Spanish for me. Don't count on my Spanish to be grammatically correct though laugh

Took a semester of Latin too. I want to learn the language, but I don't have time at the moment... plus it isn't practical.

Spanish. You get to use it in your area too and if you're fluent in it, you'll get extra pay (once you start working) for being English/Spanish bilingual.

Mmm... I'm fluent in english, french and mandarin (although my reading/writing for chinese sucks). I can speak and understand a bit of cantonese, taiwanese, japanese and german, but not enough to say I know them. But, I think I might try to improve my german or japanese.

Ooh yeah, I totally forgot about that eyes More money, YAY!!! biggrin

I might just end up taking two years of both Spanish and French because Spanish, for practicality, and French, because I think it might actually be pretty interesting eyes
