I am going to need a support group! I gave up manga for lent. dead

NOT ANIME!! I repeat I DID NOT GIVE UP ANIME!! Just wonderful and amazing manga!
Anyway, I haven't been that interested in anime before and I have no idea whats good, bad, awful. Anyway, only needs to hold me for 40 days...(I am going to die) probably no long term commitment.

Preferences:
I like at least a little violence, comedy, can barely stand watching/reading anything to do with mecha or whatever its called. Been watching clannad with my little sister.

Already watched:
Mai hime
Darker than Black (LOVED)

I hope that covers it.... btw I have netflix

A place to start would be watching anime adaptations of the manga you've really liked I would say. Not that many anime adaptations are better than the manga, but hey you've got lots of time to kill anyway laugh

I find that anime adaptations of 4-koma usually turn out well.

Off the top of my head, I'd recommend sayonara zetsubou sensei and bakemonogatari.

Bakemonogatari is awesome...if you like SHAFT's style.

Mushi-shi is definitely worth watching ^^

Your house.

On a less sarcastic note, I have no idea.

I agree with @tactics. That's a good place to start.

As for something you're looking for (slightly violent with comedy) --
Death Note
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Higashi no Eden
Ghost Hunt

I don't think you're allowed to ask this question... but... depending on where you're from...
Spoiler (highlight to view)
If you're from the US, then Hulu.com is an excellent place. Crunchyroll.com is another excellent place.

If you're not... ummm... I'm sure sites like AnimeSeason.com would work... so far... I've used it and haven't been hit by a virus.

I don't think it is ^^

But yar, Higashi no Eden is a must watch.
Or you could delve into the realm of the obscure like Serial Experiments Lain.
Hourou Musuko is worth watching as well.

If you really want to stick with violence-comedy, that's fine too, I guess.
Kuroshitsuji would fit this criteria.

loooooooooooool... Kuroshitsuji looooooooool... if you're okay with subtext bigrazz Especially in that 2nd season... the whole time I was watching it, I had THIS FACE eek
If you liked the anime, when Lent is over, you should read the manga... it's darker and better in my opinion.
