I read (maybe watched) this one a while back and can't remember the name or very much.
The setting is some alternate world, scifi and/or fantasy. There is a king (very bad), keeps his daughter uneducated, submissive, and imprisoned. She knows some secret place in the castle (maybe where someone who isn't really dead?) There is a lot of military leaders.
Most of the story takes place with the resistance/freedom fighters who live underground in man made tunnels . The princess somehow (kidnapping maybe?) ends up with the resistance. That is all I really remember.
There maybe a girl transported here from another dimension (earth)
There might be some weird religion or something about a tree. (I could be just making this part up).
Any help would be great.

Sounds kinda like Gurren Lagann - the princess part all fits, but there's no tree religion or anything

Thats not it.
The part I remember, the most, is the princess learns of a secret room that contains a person (everyone thinks is dead) in a suspended state.
The rebels are the only one this live underground.

I watched trailers for those two and its not either one.
But Now and Then, Here and There looks awesome.
I am trying to remember more details. The setting is post-hostile emperor/dictator rising to power. The point of view is third person omnicient. There are many main (ish) characters.
I am somewhat sure it is a girl transported to this world (to save it (tree of life?)). The next important character is a rebel who is also a nobleman. She not easily accepted by the resistence/outcasts who live in subterranian man-made tunnels (or other structures). The King/dictator wants total control of everything and everyone. His daughter is rasied to be ignorant, submissive, etc. (I don't remember a mother). The is a locked/secret room where she is forbidden to enter. Of course she looks, it contains someone who should be dead in suspended sleep (i think they are trying to find a way to cure/revive this person)

From what I remember, the main character Haruka is transported to an alternate future where humans live underground, due to a disaster or something..
