Thank you very much, everybody! Seeing such originality gives me hope for continued innovation in the world of manga! (And please keep recommending!)
I'd like to add Himitsu as an extremely unusual shoujo manga, because it's hard sci-fi coupled with staggeringly complex psychology, murder mysteries and frankly graphic internal biological - um - details that one doesn't usually see in anything except seinen. I haven't seen another shoujo manga with people cut open and their decimated corpses illustrated with obsessive attention to anatomy... Yeep. Seriously, try to find another manga in the 'shoujo' genre with 'serial killer' and 'mind break' as categories. Just won't happen.
