I read some shonen/seinan, but I figured I should answer shojo since it's 90% of what I read.

I read mainly shounen/seinen...almost every guy in a shoujo is prince charming...if i find a shoujo where the guy behaves like a guy in real life would, I'll give it a try^^

I don't get what my sex has to do with what I read (or why). Good/bad stories can be found in each genre, so I try not to discriminate from just reading one. If it's really good, it can be appreciated by anybody. bigrazz

You best bet is probably to read non-romance or non-romance centered shoujo instead. I don't think many guys in shounen and seinen behave like real life guys would either.

I read anything.
Sometimes even if it doesn't interest me, just to kill time.
I do choose what I read based on genres, but not those that indicate who the manga is directed at.

heh. I'm a girl, and don't know much about genres but the only manga I seem to get into/ care about enough to buy are listed as seinen and shounen on here smile it's not like you have to be the same sex as a main character to identify with them or just enjoy the art and story.

Generes are basically "guidelines", they are not etched in stone. I've seen some shounens that are more romantic than the common shoujo, and i've seen some shoujos that have comparable action and epicness to a shounen.

I'm a girl who reads mostly shoujo and josei (and BL), but there are a couple of shounen and seinen series that I like as well.

Heh heh, the reverse reason is why I don't read a lot of shounen/seinen: I can't relate to those idealized versions of what male readers want girls to be like; give me a shounen manga where the girl behaves like a girl in real life would, I'll give it a try^^

I wouldn't read shoujo manga in which the male love interest acts like a "real guy". Real guys suck, hence I read shoujo manga. wink wink

Could you clarify how girls in shounen act like? I'm not that great at distinguishing these things confused ... Is it the behavior or the looks?
I'm more of a mix person because I'm bad at differentiating genre characters... Although I do like my manga with a good dose of kickass in it.

I can't clarify as there are various types of girls (in terms of looks and behaviour) in shounen, depending on the series.

I personally don't like over the top large boobs, pointless/stupid/humiliated fanservicing females, and tsunderes. I guess I am fine with almost anything else, given that I like the art and plot of the manga. Luckily, there are shounen and seinen manga without those. And no, unlike some people, I don't read manga trying to relate to a character. As long as they are not stupid and annoying (male or female), I am fine.

I actually got into manga from shoujo if I think about it. Actually one of my favorite manga is actually shoujo but, I don't read it regularly mostly read seinen.
