I voted that I read every genre, but nowadays, it's not as true. I'm female, but I prefer shonen/seinen because there's more action and adventure in those, rather than in regular shoujo/soonjung series.

When I first started reading manhwa, I stuck to a lot of soonjung/shoujo. However, now I'm more delved into action/shonen these days.

Still, if a series is good, it matters not its genre. Though, I'd say I prefer shonen to shoujo.

I'm a girl who reads mostly shoujo and josei (and BL), but there are a couple of shounen and seinen series that I like as well.

I read mainly shounen/seinen...almost every guy in a shoujo is prince charming...if i find a shoujo where the guy behaves like a guy in real life would, I'll give it a try^^

Heh heh, the reverse reason is why I don't read a lot of shounen/seinen: I can't relate to those idealized versions of what male readers want girls to be like; give me a shounen manga where the girl behaves like a girl in real life would, I'll give it a try^^

I wouldn't read shoujo manga in which the male love interest acts like a "real guy". Real guys suck, hence I read shoujo manga. wink wink

Could you clarify how girls in shounen act like? I'm not that great at distinguishing these things confused ... Is it the behavior or the looks?
I'm more of a mix person because I'm bad at differentiating genre characters... Although I do like my manga with a good dose of kickass in it.

hahah..yes, i am a guy and reading shoujo and shounen (and some seinen)..
overall comparison (IMO):

shounen:
- female character is always a man's dream: beautiful, nice body, etc..
- typical story-->female character fighting over main character

shoujo:
- male character is always a girl's dream: handsome, charming, cool,etc..
- typical story-->male character fighting over main character

see? so guys out there, read shoujo to understand what women want, and girls, read shounen to understand what man want.. laugh

I read shounen and shoujo but avoid those typical stories. IMO those are dreams of otaku who are out of contact of society/losers, usually one-dimensional and extremely dull and boring. Also a lot of them have to do with Japan's/otaku culture and are probably not applicable in other cultures.

As a female, I never find any shoujo romance guy attractive, and I've been reading manga since the early 1990's. In fact, I hardly know any memorable or remotely decent shoujo romance. I am pround to say that I am myself, have always been myself, never tried to learn from the so-called ideal females in shounen and have found boyfriends who find me attractive.

Well, I read almost everything, but the series that I like the most belong to the Seinen/Shounen demographic and only one being a Josei title. The Shoujo that I read is actually just filler that "cleanses" the palate... so, it basically makes me appreciate my other titles all the more.

I'm a guy, read mostly shounen/seinen. Aside from that, I do read stuff that isn't placed in a demographic, as well as the occassional shoujo or josei.

Personally, I don't care what genre. As long as I like the manga itself, I don't care about the genre. Same thing with books and movies I read/watch. I just read it. If I like it, I like it. I don't even look at the genre. Lol.

I'm a girl, and I used to read way more shoujo than shounen around the pre- to early-teen age... but as I got older, I grew out of the horrible shoujo love stories and crappy plots and into the exciting and funny series shounen has to offer. :] Occasionally I find a nice shoujo series here and there... but other than that, shounen (and seinen) is what I normally get into.

You are like the dense main character in a shoujo manga.

I read anything that sounds good, and that includes shounen and seinen.
