I was hoping that someone here might be able to help me with my problem, I replaced my laptop screen and the screen seems to be fine but my Gateway nv79 windows 7 laptop seems to think that the screen is much smaller than it is. the result is that the is a rectangle about half the size of the screen in the top left corner that shows everything but leaves the rest of the screen blank.

I'm still not clear about what started this. What did you mean when you said you replaced the screen?

Fyi, you would have more luck posting your issue on a techie site.

That was what I was thinking, too. If it doesn't work, try reinstalling the screen if replacing it started the problem.

I don't think it's the video card because when I plug it into an external monitor that I have it works fine. At this point i am starting to think that I have a monitor with an odd defect.

you should take a picture to help visualize the problem (picture, not screenshot.) actually, both could help.
