Okay, so I'm not actually sure if this is a manga or a movie or a book or maybe even a dream I had, though I certainly hope not...

The scene has this girl going to some sort of protest against animal testing (or using them for science) or something and the guy doesn't want to go and/or kind of blows her off and says he's busy. The girl is annoyed with him but later, in another scene, one of their friends tells the girl that the guy's mother died of cancer and I guess it's sort of implied that the animal testing or whatever she was protesting would have helped his mom so she forgives him for not going.

Anyone recognize this?

It's not that, thanks. I've read it before and they're pretty much all orphans who never knew their parents. Anyone else have an idea?

I'm also pretty sure it won't be in the tags because I don't think it was a big part of the manga. Most of it didn't revolve around the protest/animal testing (in fact, the protest isn't even shown and I'm fairly sure the animal testing business is never mentioned again).

The characters involved were either high school or college age and I think the girl had long hair...
