Well, I should say that this would never fly in Japan. Higashiyama Show was the latest victim of this. He was forced to go back to doing H-manga for the time being as he traced only one photograph for a panel. Japan's a little more harsh when it comes to visual copyright. Hell SJ dropped Double Arts a few years back b/c fans started complaining about similar themes to Chrno Crusade (not even artwork just a similar plot point).

Also, this really isn't comparable to Nick Simmons, as his comic was really just a Bleach fanfic. Not only that, but he was an asshat about it. Demanding apologies from fans of Bleach and DeviantArtists that he blatantly ripped off.

That being said, I like Witch Hunter and as long as he's not copying stories and characters I couldn't care less.

...No the anime is still not happening.

I don't particularly care either because the series is good enough, but that's entirely different than suggesting it isn't wrong. Just because other people have more overt, egregious offenses (Nick Simmons), doesn't mean that it's not plagiarism.

All this fucking "neener neener neener everybody does this" schlock? Lol.

No they don't. Especially not in the way people are suggesting.

I don't think that it should be considered plagiarism if copied scenes was enough to be plagiarism then many parody and gag manga would be one big lawsuit (since some copy not only the panel but also the words used)

Except that the examples shown are neither gags nor parodies.

Aside from the blatant plagiarism as seen here, I am going to defend this "art". I was shocked to see the panels which had striking similarities and am somewhat heartbroken sad . But alas, that doesn't make it a horrible work. I recommend you all read Lizzie Widdicombe’s essay “The Plagiarist’s Tale”. The man in the essay literally lifted materials from multiple sources to create a work he calls his own. Everyone LOVED his works, until they found out that it was plagiarized :/. But to be able to create such a work and make it all fit together is amazing in itself. Even one of the authors that he stole from commended him for being able to perform such a feat. No lie! Haha.

Yes, I am somewhat disappointed in the author, but I would say he made one hell of a work that I don't think any less of. but lets be real, one could say that he create his own "original" work by making a mashup of multiple works to make one( assuming that ALL of Witch Hunter was plagiarized). If it wasn't all plagiarized, then damn, was he able to add his own original stuff to be able to link all the works together. Think of it like this, pieces of a puzzle taken from different other puzzle boxes to MAKE them fit together beautifully.
