Looking for a series that makes a drastic shift in direction at one point. For example, a school drama turning into an apocalyptic sci-fi.

Examples: Mahou Sensei Negima , Gantz sorta fits

Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle starts out happy, and then gets suddenly darker after some plot twists...
Medaka Box apparently has genre shifts...the comments either complain about it or praise it.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica & Mahou Shoujo Kazumi Magica - The Innocent Malice also start out happy, but then...
