Well, I was wondering if there are any manga out there that focus on body building. I ask this because, I have never seen or heard of one and am hoping there is one out there that might be a nice read.

Er, not exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping for something along the lines of a sports genre manga, perhaps. Thanks for the suggestion though, however, I've already read DBZ.

Um there is a manga I looked up called Grappler Baki. Maybe that's along the lines of what you're looking for? IDK, well try it out anyways. GO MARTIAL ARTS! laugh

I honestly have been looking, and I haven't seen anything like that ever. Sorry. Probably because over muscular men aren't considered attractive in Japan like they are in the west.

If I'm not mistaken, then there should at least be a bit of it in All Rounder Meguru and Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru, but it may be just on the sidelines of the martial arts setting.

Nah Toriko doesn't have any of body building.

You can try Hajime no Ippo they do do some training and body building later on I think I have only read 40 or so Chapters so I can't say for sure. They have done shadow boxing , foot work, and some practice and rounds in the ring though if you interested if not try Baki pretty sure they have body building in there.

Note there is a Bodybuilder category but there is only 3 in there 1 is a yaoi and none of them are scanned.

You will have better luck getting some results looking into boxing and martial arts manga's/manhwa's

You are bound to get a few hits if you check these categories. If you have enough patience at least smile

Note if you haven't read History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, there is sort of some body building going on in there BUT it is not focused on body building just training for a better cause to survive.
As you read the story you will see how his body changes.

If you haven't I also suggest what NatsuHaru said All-Rounder Meguru and Karate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru seems like they'd be pretty good as well. But that all depends on your preferences.

Good luck!

Hey!

It's no surprise (unfortunately) that many people haven't even heard of Shape Up Ran. It's a gag manga about a female bodybuilder, created by the author of Jungle King Ta-chan: TOKUHIRO Masaya http://www.mangaupdates.com/authors.html?id=5383. That guy is NUTS (meaning cool) and, as stated in his summary, one of his interests is bb. Read his entry. I think he's right up your alley.

I think his characters are generally beefed up, so check out Jungle King Ta-chan (besides it's a lot of fun). Have in mind that Ta-chan is available up to vol 2. in English and from what i know it starts as a gag manga but later on focuses on fighting (just like Sakigake Otokojuku).

There's another manga called Saint Muscle (only chapter 1 is available), drawn by FUKUSHIMA Masami (another obscure mangaka that's on my "Hopes to read one day" list). More about him here - http://comipress.com/special/manga-zombie/incredibly-strange- manga-part-1/fukushima-masami. Saint Muscle is not about bodybuilding, but it's WAAAY closer to what you're looking for than those DB recommendatios.
