I'm looking for a series where the main character is a coward, or doesn't have much a "presence" . It would also be cool if he were to be arrogant much like Kurono from Gantz. Don't get me wrong, although i want him to be a coward or have little to no "presence" i don't want him to be a total loser. They should have something they are good at but aren't really noted for it like Kenji Koiso (summer wars) who was a math wizard.

As for the unrequited love, I would prefer if the girl were to be an older woman. One who seems perfect and all except she's either in a relationship or unrequited lover herself (preferably with someone older).
P.S (the relationship should be in a rough patch and the unrequited love she's in is impossible b/c of certain reasons)

As the lead desperately tries to wins her heart he grows as a person through the constant failing and gets a better outlook on life.

The series can be Josei, Seinen, Adult (if that's even a genre), shoujo and.....i .....guess shonen.
No shoujo/shonen-ai, etc.

I'm looking for more of a slice of life theme here. better yet, not much of a battle manga (only if the romance is really good).

If it helps i want it to carry the "feel" that Honeymoon Salad, Hachimitsu to Clover have eyes

well it doesn't fit completely but... HSDK
he is a coward and a loser and more or less starts to become stronger when he falls in love. it isn't exactly said that his love is unrequited but it isn't really returned. he reads "how to..." self education books as a hobby so he should actually be quite knowledgeable about many things but it never was mentioned further or was used by him.
a minus for you might be that the romance is extremely slow, but it is mostly what gives him strength

Honey and Clover

EDIT: I'm an idiot, just realized your username and read the last line of the the OP.

Maybe Nana to Kaoru? Don't let the whole S&M thing throw you off, this series has great characters and growth. The alternate story Nana to Kaoru: Black Label is also good, but I'd suggest reading that after reading the base story.
