Is anyone familiar with Southeastern Asian knockoffs of stuff like Pokemon action figures? There was an old thread in Serebii a long time ago about it, but I thought I'd start one here, considering I just did a post on it in my blog.
Basically, all you have to do is look on eBay for something that might ring bells or raise alarms that it might be fake. Mega-bonus points if it's ugly.
I found this one today on eBay when I looked for Spongebob action figures.

That is a pretty bad ripoff. I would want more than 20 for something that bad at that price.

Did you see the lips and the eyelashes? They looked like they were drawn on with crayon!

Considering there ripoffs they are probably painted with lead paint, toxic to the people they are aimed at.

First of all, why the heck would you put a watermark on a photo like that? Yeah, that's definitely counterfeit. Spongebob does not have red things on his cheeks.
I'm pretty sure that at a local mall, this guy was selling counterfeit copied old video games, like Pacman, the old Mario, Galaxy, etc. on a mini console. You can tell because it was badly done. Not all of the words display properly, and sometimes it randomly freezes up. Oh well. Still works well upstairs plugged into a TV. They're the ones who are illegal, not us.

What you really have to watch out for is the backdoor items. What would often happen is that the factory makes the toy/videogame/whatever all day to fill the orders placed by the actual company. Then they call in another team at night to run all the factory machines for a few more hours and sell the knockoffs out the backdoor for a cut rate price. The problem is that it comes out of the same factory as the original and is almost indistinguishable from the actual stuff.
China is rip-off land as far as commercial goods are concerned

Yeah, which reminds me. Google tPhone. It's like the iPhone, except it's a Chinese knockoff.
