I'm just starting my adventure with japanese/korean/taiwanese drama. I want to start with something good that will encourage me to watch more Asian dramas.
I'm looking for 2 things:

1) Something interesting/popular with no romance, I really like police/detective series but not necessary

2) Could be romance, but don't have to, about college students (I'd love to if it was sth more mature and realistic - parties, crazy friends, alcohol)

I'm really new to the topic of these so please give me some recomendations smile

You should check out this year's list of Japanese dramas for detective series. There is a lot. Something like Code Blue might be nice.

Something like Meteor Garden has certain college life scenarios, but most of the ones I've watched do not have crazy friends and parties, but most do involve drinking soju occasionally.

I'll check that, looks great.

I think I've heard about Meteor Garden, is it based on Boys over flowers, because it looks similar

I've been more focused on movies as of late so I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to dramas. Plus, I'm kind of hard pressed to find one with absolutely no romance (unless you're in the mood for some movies). My suggestions are (warning: some do have a romantic subplot but it's mostly on the backburner):

- Maou (adaptation of the Korean drama The Devil)
- Ryusei no Kizuna
- City Hunter
- Galileo
- Last Friends

Yes, it's an adaptation. I have no clues for the 2nd requirement you made, but I'd love an Asian equivalent of Skins or The Inbetweeners...
