I can't really quite define what I mean by "gritty". This by no means means "bad" at all, it just means a heavy emphasis on odd brush strokes and a slightly "sketchlike" look. Perhaps best would be examples:

Please please please read my list of previously read manga. Also I know it goes without saying, but I'm already familiar with the other series done by the mangaka that did the above manga, so don't recommend other series done by them.
