Anyone prefer dorming on campus or commuting from your own house or a rented one?
Personally, although there are times where I wish I was alone, and possibly deaf and blind with amnesia after the last incident, overall, the advantages of dorming outweighs the disadvantages. I mean, yeah, you're personal space is gone, the bath room is a horror, and sometimes an argument with the roommate. But the plus side is, it's very liberating and you are almost forced to meet new people. eyes

p.s. yeah....maybe not deaf and mute, but just spontaneous everlasting amnesia......that was a horrible experience I wish to forget.

p.p.s I'm sure there are some here that dorms

p.p.p.s, oh yeah, for those who never dormed before, those stereotypes of dorms in manga are mostly true....at least it's ture for me......

We have sort of similar topic already, but I believe it's not a total copy.
I live in dorms and boy, it's good. Waking up 15 minutes before lectures, coming back home with bunch of drunk friends from pubs, being close to everywhere. And not having to endure endless hours in bus/car. That's life.
On the other hand, yeah, bathroom's a mess as is the kitchen and dining/living room, other students tend to come back from pubs rather loudly at 3 a.m., some of flatmates obviously are very vocal with their significant others...
Yep, dorms are a paradise biggrin

anyway.....oh god, tell me about it...the toilet is to horrifying......and the shower room....so much hair!

but still...I met some many new people.... eyes

I've done both, & they each have advantages & disadvantages.

Right after high school, I went to a university 300 miles from home & lived in the dorms for three semesters. It was a good way to start out, get a feel for school, etc. without having to worry about cooking, rent, utilities, & all that. Then I did a semester of study abroad (England) & when I came back I lived in a two bedroom apartment for the last four semesters. It was a 10-15 minute walk from school (depending on which side of campus you had to get to), and that was good too. I think it would have been hard to live in an apartment & keep up with everything (school, bills, cooking, etc.) when I first started university, but by the time I came back from England I was READY to be out of the dorms!! laugh

Later I went back to a different university, & commuted. I had to leave the house an hour before my first class started, drive 30-40 minutes (depending on traffic & weather), park, get my boys to daycare, & then walk ~10 minutes to class. It...kind of really sucked. dead Not badly enough to move closer to the school, though.

Don't even tell me. Every time I get to my dorm on Monday mornings, there are so many bottles in the kitchen that I would lost count if I bothered to count. The only person that stays at dorms for weekends is an American girl who came here for a year - I dare say that she and her friends have rather strong heads. ;)

Cool *_* Remember to send me a postcard bigrazz

I think I'll apply for dorms for my next year at college. Although the chances of getting a room adain are slim. If it won't work I hope I'll find some digs in Maynooth - the village is small, but I really don't want to commute 100 km everyday...

@binzoo - go make an introduction! ;x
