Before I start reading this manga, how applicable is the 'rape' tag?

Somewhere around the middle of the story theres a rape scene, after that there will be a repeted amount of scenes with rape attempts, Im not to sure but as the manga has war in it there could very well be images of female prisoners but I dont remember any such thing
So from my point of few its not that much but the rapes that are there, are a crucial/main part of the storyline.
As i I said, long time I read through it, but does that elaborate it?

That does help; just one more question. Are the main female characters involved in any way?

Sigh. Another series that goes into the "Never going to touch this even if I go insane' list...

I know; I really want to read it, but I can't stand the above-mentioned, and nor can I stand NTR, and I get a feeling that's also there.

The rape is there but its an important part of the story. It really doesn't turn you off to the story in that way. I just adds another human element to an overall dark story. Dispute the negatives this manga presents I highly suggest it to all of my friends.

Right then; since you guys recommend it, I'll narrow my question down. Does the main character's love interest get raped?

since im a little hestitant about reading this manga(mainly because its ongoing) i'll drop a question too
if the answer to the above question is yes, did it happen because the female main character is too wussy/annoying/stupid/dumb?

The main female character is strong. So, Sarah, the answer to your question would be no.
As for Casey's question, the answer is

yes and it is not NTR. The reason for it was another character's jealousy of her relationship with the main hero, though I'm kind of unsure whom he was jealous of, her or the hero himself...
Anyway, the concrete event is

the main character is forced to watch as his girlfriend is being raped before his eyes. She then goes insane.
It happens within the context of a greater tragedy to emphasize the changes the rapist had gone through by that point.Post #505647

Wasn't sure it was clear from the questions or responses but I remember when I first tried reading berserk, I was first a bit taken aback by the very first chapter, which opens with a (very short and mild) sex scene. After that, the main character was raped early in the flashback... And that made me stop reading. So I thought that early scene should also be brought to attention.
I was, perhaps, a bit young to be reading it at 14 years old though. I came back to Berserk a few years later and really liked it. And I think the rest has been dealt with by others above.
