does anybody know whether or not Kai Yorihito Kaiyori Shiki will/can ever be continued? it was discontinued because of some copyright stuff so i'm just wondering that if the legal stuff got figured out, could a resurgence be possible?

I suspect the answer is a resounding no.

The artist has likely had their contract terminated, and I sincerely doubt any Japanese company would be willing to hire them again on anything more than a freelance basis. The quality of the work is irrelevant. Play by the rules, kids. Reputation is a big deal.

NightSwan also said that she wanted to peg me, once, but I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or a threat...

Long story short : The author/artist was using pay-for-use photographs (without paying) as background content. They got called out on it, and the publisher bailed.

Reputation is HUGE in Japan. You can bet safe money that the author/artist will never work in the industry again aside from maybe making doujinshi under a pen name.

Wasn't Suetsugu Yuki involved in a similar problem? Yet she has Chihayafuru now. Or is copying poses from a manga considered forgivable compared to unauthorized use of copyrighted pics?
I enjoy Kaiyorihito Kaiyorishiki so I hope the mangaka can at least write a new series if they won't let her continue it.

Eden no Hana finished 2 years before the mangaka admitted to plagiarism, so of course it has an ending.
From looking at other works being discontinued for plagiarism or copyright infringement I'd say that the chances that Kai Yorihito Kaiyori Shiki will return is so small that you shouldn't expect anything. The mangaka can still make new stuff of course, but it will be hard if it was her first manga being serialized considering that her reputation now is shit from the get go.

By the way, copyright infringement is worse than plagiarism when it come to manga and other written and drawn works. But then again, plagiarism is copyright infringement so I don't get it. confused
