The Vampire Hunter D works? I posted this here because the book would be for a girl and Twilight is more a supernatural romance whereas VHD is more of a supernatural horror.

VHD is full of gore, sex, and killing. I'm a gal and I like it well enough, but I can't see a Twilight fan liking it at all. =/ Ya might be better off giving her Vampire Knight or Bloody Kiss. Those are most like twilight.

Or you could give her(or him) Twilight

I like both, so it is possible.
But, I do not compare them. That is virtually impossible.

I read a number of the *written* (I'm going to assume there is a manga to this...) Vampire Hunter D works from my library and also read and enjoyed Twilight. I also read Vampire Knight until it became too confusing, love Trinity Blood and have read enough of Kurobara Alice that I'll be continuing (though at a later date). So I would believe it's quite possible to enjoy a number of dissimiliar and opposing takes on an idea.
