Tofu-Queen, I bow in awe at your lists. May mine be as long someday...Do you like Robin McKinley? My mum introduced me to Heyer. And Robin, actually. And Lois McMaster Bujold....*jerks back to topic under discussion*

I haven't read Robin McKinley but her(?) books look interesting, I'll have to check for them at the library next time. My mom & brother have both recommended Lois McMaster Bujold, but I haven't gotten around to reading anything of hers yet.

My reading lists...heh...when I was in high school I had over 1,000 books in my room. biggrin I tend to get a bit obsessive with my reading; back then it was historical romances, primarily Regencies, lately it's been manga.

Uhm let's see, another shoujo cliche I like...I do like the girls who are dense about the guy(s) who like(s) her, though it can sometimes be taken too far. I can *totally* relate to it, as I always used to assume guys were just being friendly & then had my friends tell me later "he was *so* flirting with you, couldn't you tell?" (I still think at least *most* of them were just being friendly, but who knows. laugh )

I just got another one! The sensitive guys who are either:

A.) Always crying or being attacked. (it's just ridiculous)
B.) Always freaking out in their head and then sometimes letting it bubble over into their real life and then they get funny stares from people. smile wink grin

I'm a big fan of all those lil fluffy moments that are usually the same across manga.
I adore it when the girl tugs at the boys shirt right after she's yelled at him to go away, just cause it's adorable. I also like the hugs when the couple are all tangled up in each other (but none smutty) after something angsty happened.

Also a big fan of something I've seen across genre's, but don't even know how to name-when the girl hugs the boy from behind. I've seen it in in countless manga at this point, but in all the shoujo I've seen it's usually between the couple that'll happen at the end.

I can sympathize with the cliche when the boy's the great cook and the girl burns water (probably 'cause I'm just like those girls).

Regency was earlier this year and most of last year. Now it's....yeah.....manga. I'm in junior high right now, but since most of my books come from the library, the clutter ain't bad. Robin McKinley is great. Try her (yep) blog: robinmckinley.livejournal.com . And if you've read Peter Dickinson, they're married. Makes the blog even more interesting..... With Bujold, if you start with the sci-fi, read Shards of Honor first. Or just get the omnibus, Cordelia's Honor. Actually, I suppose I can count on your family to tell you this stuff...

Yeah, the hug from behind is a favorite. I'm also kinda fond of the rescue....as cliched as that is. Still, that's the point here: cliched because we like it. Mmmm.....Dense heroines, well, there are definitely limits. I was overjoyed because I thought Kyoko was figuring out that Ren loved her....dang. She was only figuring that he didn't hate her....Too much to hope for....

And indirect kisses! People blush like hell when they notice them laugh

laugh Those are funny, and blushing when they call each other's first name too... so cute ^^

I think my favorite one is when the main girl's a bit on the b*tchy side and tell main guy's fangirls off when they harass her.

Love triangles.....I mostly don't like them. I mean, if the other people involved end up happy, then I'm happy. But....Take Akira in Tokyo Crazy Paradise. Is he happy? Resigned, yeah, but happy? Not really. And he's really very sympathetic, so that leaves me a bit unhappy. I prefer things like what happened with Asago.

Pansy....umm....Skip Beat is a love triangle? no Please, no. And I'm only on chapter 74, so don't answer that. *denies*

Colds are a useful cliche. bigrazz Like in Koukou Debut and BODY.

Edit: Is Skip Beat a good triangle because ya bloody well want him left sobbing in the cold?

Well, it hardly ever works out where everyone ends up happy in a love triangle. However, that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes. Yet, that doesn't stop it from giving the story some zest. It's also a great tool for getting some characters to come to realizations. Would Ryuji have been so more upfront with his emotions if he didn't realize that another man was in love with Tsukasa? He's always been pretty close-mouthed and silent about his feelings, and I'm sure Akira's presence made him more vocal about his feelings for Tsukasa.

I won't spoil anything about Skip Beat!, but I think that's an interesting dynamic between Kyoko and the other two men. Ren has something of the same problem as Ryuji except with different reasons. And yes, I want to see Sho suffer for his mistake biggrin. I don't want to see him cry, but I think it would be fun to see him regret the poor way he treated Kyoko.

I always love it when the girl is sick and the guy has to take care of her. Kinda like a reversal of roles. It's soooo cuuuute... biggrin <3

I'm not too fond of that =x
It's too unrealistic.

In most societies, people are selfish and won't help you, even if you are sick -_-.

My favourite and probably, the only one i'll ever really accept is...
Guys who like cute girls.
Like when the chick does something cute like blushing when she accepts the guy's present, and the guy is so shocked he'll turn away and be like "SO CUTE!!".

Nosebleeds are funny too =)

How about when the girl cries yelling at the guy calling him stupid and then she just falls into his arms. Those are always very good moments if done right.

I like the hot bad boy image biggrin but that only works for me if the girl isn't a complete wuss and or the cliche girl character. I like the hate relationship that then turns into love for one reason or another.

I like the cheesy way two people randomly meet and fall in love but start out hating each other... *shrugs*

I've been seeing this very often and I think it's hilarious...... nosebleeds. Like the guy a girl likes walks by and she gets a massive nosebleed and completely makes an idiot of herself. laugh

That's common in every romance manga, not just shojo. I think it happens more often on shonen/seinen romance comedies, especially ones with lots of ecchi.

Edit by mod: Do not double post!!
hmm shojo cliche, I like it whenever a bishie is in pain, wether this is a cliche or not, whenever i see a bishie in pain i laugh cuz i hate bishies.

Hot, tormented bishies are always a plus. I also love teary-eyed reunions between the guy and the girl, because I'm a hopeless romantic.
