1. The character can be gravely wounded, suffering from an illness, in the middle of a mental crisis, or in a very desperate situation.
2. I would prefer the rescuer(s) are not the rescuee's comrades, but are helping out of goodwill.
3. Character actually takes time to recover / is not instantaneously better.
Any genre (-hentai) is ok. The person can be saved from death at the beginning of the story, or later in it. The rescuee does not need to be the main character.
Some examples i can think of are:
Scar from Full Metal Alchemist - got gravely wounded, was saved by some sewer dwelling
people and nursed back to health.
The blind guy from 6000 - was found starving and nearly blind. Rescued and hospitalized. I
No. 6 - The fugitive nezumi was saved by Shion after getting shot in the arm.
Nabari no Oh - Yoite is taken in by Miharu and his friends for brief periods of time and
looked after while he is ill. Also applies when yoite is first taken in by the bad guys.
