Looks like the U.S. government is trying to toss Hollywood a consolation prize. Funny, I always thought them being based in HK would have provided some protection.

edit: And of course congress will always keep screwing with internet regulation as well. Apologies if this was already mentioned here before.

Great. Because people were going to bother spending their money anyway. I'll just go to Youtube and 4shared.com, even though megavideo.com always had those shows you really had to look around for. Screw it.

Don't think anyone saw that coming. eek
I guess this is the Industry's response to the blackout. I just hate when America orders other countries around. They just snap their fingers and New Zealand arrests one of its citizens. I'm left speechless.

I think we need an alternative to the Internet. America controls it and I do not believe them to be willing to relinquish that control.

If you look closer into it it seems that the people involved are being done for things like money laundering etc. so the site being shut down may not have anything to do with pirating.

Ah, that's a big loss.

I didn't care much for their videos though. That 72 minute time limit was a bitch.

well, if they take down another file-sharing site in next month, we know it's conspiracy. but it doesn't really sound that believable. Those people would post links to copyrighted material either way so why pay them. but what do I know. thank god I have mediafire, or all my documents would be gone. must suck.
