In any case, I'd like to discuss. Share opinions, facts, whatever ya got. I just wanna talk about some Rurouni Kenshin since my mind is now blown. biggrin

There's apparently like no info right now aside from the fact that it's being done. Maybe soon something will come up though. Yahiko did get way cooler at the end though. I didn't like him really until he took out that bat dude in the Kyoto arc.

I didn't know this when I actually read the manga, but apparently the author regretted not having the freedom to make the series less like a shounen. So I'm wondering if this'll be a more hardcore version or something now =P

Yeah, initially I wasn't that interested in the OAV. I was really hoping it would just be a whole new anime series that covered the whole manga when I saw they were announcing something. But I'll probably still watch it if I get the chance.

Seriously I've read a crap ton of manga besides this, but nothing ever beats Rurouni Kenshin for me biggrin

I hope that does not spoil. I like how the manga ended.
Watsuki In an interview had said that if he continued the manga had to kill Kenshin. Must see in question, if only a one-shot or a continuation of the manga. "Reboot" means to restart, or you can rewrite history again.

It's a reboot, leading into an alternate time line, while preserving the main elements from the original Tokyo Arc. Give it a read and see for yourself if you like it.

I thought it was pretty good, though a bit rushed. Hopefully, we'll get some more even pacing in the next chapter.

I have lost all respect for the mangaka

this isjust awful

if you cant come up with a good new story
you just gonna redo the thing that made you great

and its not like he needs the money
he sits in every good damn committee there is over at JUMP land
and he have ongoing other mangas[crappy ones but still]

why do something like this

feels like he is pissing all over one of the best manga to ever come out of JUMP and himself too for that matter

@Tao: You're being uselessly rude. If you don't know the mangaka's reason for rebooting Kenshin, don't start trash talking him as if he has personally harassed you.

Now, to a question I have to ask: Did he decide on his own to continue Kenshin or was he pressured into it? :/ If I remember correctly, that also happened with 20th Century Boys, the mangaka was pressured into making a sequel. I kind of have a feeling the magazine wants to squeeze some money out of him. After all, print media is dying, so why not boost sales with the return of an extremely popular series?

The reboot is tied to the movie. I think Watsuki has actually been wanting to remake RK his way for a while now. The SJ editors made him change a lot of things and I think he sees the movie and the cinemaban as his way to finally do the story he had wanted to do from the get-go.
