There was a series I wanted to read a while back, but I always ended up forgetting about it when it finally came time to order books... It wasn't scanlated at the time, though that might have changed, I'm not sure. Anyway, I remember only a few details about the series, so I'm helping someone can help me place what the name was.

First, the covers... The prequel, I remember, had a light background with just a girl in the foreground looking back at the reader wearing what I think was a white dress and a wide-brimmed white hat and involved her getting married, or meeting someone important, I think? The second volume, in contrast, had a black or at least dark, stylized border with two young boys. Er, maybe it was just one- he had a sullen look on his face, and I want to say he wore shorts with suspenders and a white shirt. I want to say the story's set in the past-- not quite Victorian? Maybe a little later.

I can't remember a lot of the premise, but I think it involved a death in the family followed by a girl (the main chara of the prequwl's sister?) moving in with the boy and his brother. The one boy likes her immediately, but the other won't warm up to her at all and I suspect that's supposed to be the premise of the story.

Anywho, I know it's not much to go on, but I'd appreciate any help.
